Columbia sushi restaurant closes after 20 years; 3rd since July

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – A downtown Columbia restaurant is closing its doors after two decades.

SakiTumi, a sushi restaurant located on Gervais Street, announced its closure on Thursday. It first opened in 2006.

“To our community: thank you,” read a statement on SakiTumi’s Facebook page. “Thank you for choosing us for your celebrations, your date nights, your family dinners, and even those nights when you just needed somewhere to unwind. Thank you for your loyalty, your kindness, your support, and for allowing us to be a part of your lives for the last 20 years. Every visit, every recommendation, every kind word, and every person who walked through our doors meant more than you will ever know.”

SakiTumi’s closure comes after two other sushi restaurants located downtown did the same in July.
