United Airlines is expanding its Japan network this winter with new nonstop flights to Sapporo and Tokyo-Narita. The airline will introduce the first-ever nonstop service between the continental U.S. and Sapporo, Japan, while also launching new daily nonstop service between Chicago O’Hare and Tokyo-Narita.
“Whether customers are dreaming of skiing in Sapporo, planning a business trip to Tokyo with some exploration added in, or an even bigger adventure across Asia, United gives travelers more ways to get there than any U.S. airline,” said Patrick Quayle, Senior VP of Network Planning and Global Alliances, United Airlines, in a media statement.
Nonstop U.S.-Sapporo Route
Beginning Dec. 11, United will operate three weekly winter seasonal flights between San Francisco and Sapporo. The route marks the first nonstop connection between the continental U.S. and Sapporo, a destination known for winter sports, culinary tourism and the annual Sapporo Snow Festival.
United plans to operate the route using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and will connect travelers from nearly 80 U.S. cities through its San Francisco hub.
Chicago-Tokyo Narita Service
United will also launch daily year-round service between Chicago O’Hare and Tokyo-Narita starting Oct. 24. The carrier said it will become the only U.S. airline operating the route, complementing its existing Chicago-Tokyo Haneda service.
The new Narita flights are expected to strengthen connectivity for both corporate and leisure travelers. Travelers will be able to connect to destinations including Cebu, Guam, Palau, Saipan and Ulaanbaatar through Tokyo-Narita.
United plans to operate the Chicago-Narita route on a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
