Noboribetsu 登別
Oni(鬼) is a Japanese demon, but in Noboribetsu, he’s actually one of the “good” guys.
To be specific, he’s a Yukijin(湯鬼神), a “Hot Water Demon”, like a guardian deity for the town’s famous hot springs, the Noboribetsu Onsen(登別温泉).
The Red Oni: He is the muscle and the symbol of business prosperity
The Blue Oni: He acts as the brains, which represents academic success
They both live in Jigokudani aka Hell Valley(地獄谷), and use their fierce looks to scare away misfortune and illness, protecting all who visit. In that sense, we’re good!!
