HOKKAIDO (TR) – Hokkaido Prefectural Police have arrested a 22-year-old man accused of intentionally striking a woman with his vehicle in a hotel parking lot in Sapporo City last year, reports STV News (May 3).
At shortly before 7:00 a.m. on December 11, the unnamed suspect, a company employee residing in Shiroishi Ward, allegedly accelerated his passenger car into a woman in her 50s at a hotel parking lot located in the Susukino entertainment district in Chuo Ward.
The impact knocked the unacquainted victim to the ground, leaving her with a sprained neck, a twisted elbow and severe bruising on her arm—injuries requiring a week to heal.
During police questioning on suspicion of inflicting bodily harm on Thursday, the suspect admitted to the allegations.
By the time associates of the woman placed an emergency call to police, the driver had already fled the area.
Following a months-long investigation analyzing security camera footage, authorities managed to track the vehicle’s ownership, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
According to the police, the two did not know each other.
Police are investigating the man’s motives for crashing his car into the woman.
