OSAKA (TR) – Police have arrested a 51-year-old unemployed man over the fatal stabbing of his former girlfriend at an apartment in Izumi City last month, with the suspect also hinting at the murder of her elderly mother, reports Mainichi Broadcasting System (May 1).

Teruyuki Sugihira, a resident of Sakai City, is accused of stabbing 41-year-old Yuka Murakami in the neck and killing her during the early hours of April 8. The attack took place inside Murakami’s apartment complex.

Upon his arrest for murder, Sugihira fully admitted to the allegations.

“I killed her with a kitchen knife I brought with me,” the suspect told investigators.

The gruesome scene also yielded a second victim. Upon searching the residence, police discovered the dead body of Murakami’s 76-year-old mother, Kazuko.

According to investigators and acquaintances of Yuka, Sugihira had borrowed 1.5 million yen money from her.

During voluntary questioning prior to his formal arrest, Sugihira hinted at his involvement in the mother’s death as well. Police are continuing their investigation into the details surrounding the double homicide.
