Day in the Life of a Japanese Garbageman
This is a day in the life in Japan, following a Japanese worker in Chigasaki as he helps keep the city clean as a Japanese Garbage Collector. If you are curious about Japan work culture, life in Japan, or how Japanese cities stay so clean, this Japan documentary gives you a behind the scenes look at waste management in Japan. Ginjiro works at the Chigasaki City Government Environmental Operation Center, where over 120 workers handle garbage collection across the city. Like many jobs working in Japan, safety and precision are critical. Each day begins with a full truck inspection, as garbage collection is done in pairs. Navigating narrow Tokyo style streets with cars, bikes, and pedestrians requires a high level of skill and constant awareness. In Japan, cleanliness starts with the community. Residents maintain collection areas, and the cleaner the space, the more likely people follow proper disposal rules. This reflects a deeper part of Japan’s culture and daily life, where responsibility for shared spaces is taught from a young age. Even after long shifts, workers wash their trucks, which is why garbage trucks in Japan always look clean. This attention to detail is part of what defines Japanese culture and what makes Japan feel so safe and organized.

One Punch Man ❌
One Clean Man ⭕
It's always satisfying to watch "Day in the Life" videos.
Wonder if the ambulance pulling up gave Paulo filming ideas for another day in the life.
Meanwhile, I detest our garbage collectors in my neighborhood
Was waiting for the pun. It’s not a day in the life without the puns.
Weird question, but how does it smell there, especially where the Trash goes to the incinerator? I ask cause near where I live there used to be a landfill near our highway and you can smell the old landfill, no matter the season. (It’s 100x worse in the summer)
Why would anyone want to eat a raw egg tho? All slimy and slippery. To each their own, but, oof. !
I guess his lazy wife couldn’t get up and making breakfast typical
Japan is something else, all countries should have the politeness and cleanliness of Japan and it's people.
What I’ve noticed through these videos is that the Japanese don’t seem to have big personalities. Unlike Americans, who could be quite boisterous or loud or gregarious, the Japanese are very subdued not a lot of emotion comes out of them in conversation.
Can you try the two at day in the life of a japanese welder? My husband is a welder, and he wants wants to see how japan does it compare to how the u s does it.
Wholesome ❤
That seems like a great job , actually helping the community in a meaningful way plus he gets to spend time with his family and own a home. Can't get any better. While the crane operator job seems cool at first, it seems better to stretch your legs and go out on drives/pickups.
It never ceases to impress me the level of pride the Japanese take in their work and their care for one another as a whole. Thanks for another great video!
hands down the easiest job that I have ever seen in your videos, this guy is living the asian dream, guarantee job in the public sector that he cannot be fired by the law he has no managers/bosses/HR to stress him out to perform and get results, easy hours no overtime no extra workload never short-stuffed just doing some influencer stuff on his break and chilling with the boys!
I really like this type of video. This cv one was particularly interesting. Thank you.
5:24 is album art cover GOLD. Never seen garbagemen so dripped out
Paolo , can you make a video about the daily life of a Japanese airline pilot? and life of a coal miner in the Kushiro Coal Mine?
かっこい!。
