Sumida my beloved. Together with Koto and Taito it made up the places I’ve spent the most time in during my 1 year sabbatical between June 2022 and May 2023. Whenever I returned to Tokyo from my travels, I’d be staying in either Sumida-ku or Koto-ku.
Sumida is just so chill. The fact that the only really well-known tourist destination is Sky Tree makes the ward very relaxed because most of the time you’ll just see residents just going on about their day. Loved taking evening walks from Sakurabashi down towards Kuramae and just sitting next to the river for a while.
Very jealous this is your block! In another timeline I would have picked a more easily transferable job so I could have made the move to Japan permanently. I truly miss living in Tokyo.
