  1. JE thinks deeply about the problem … I would add following.
In today's abundant information society, you can live a life based on artificial (man made) reality. You can experience "real" things simply by watching them on a screen.

  2. I feel sorry for Japan, . But in my humble opinion (and I'm speaking generally), people in Japan don't freely choose their future; they simply let themselves be carried along by their environment as a resigned society A country (among the most developed) ranks near the bottom in happiness rankings for its people, and it's falling, because you spend all day working and your only way to socialize is by going out to…Maid cafes where they'll flatter you with empty words, or women going to host clubs where a man will make you feel special for money,I'm sorry, but that society has serious problems and I don't believe it. . Statistics such as the fact that 40% of single people (men and women) under 35 are virgins are also unhealthy. Considering a romantic date a hassle for For young people, it makes me realize that as societies we're not on the right track. For me, it's perfectly fine for women and men to choose not to marry, but within the current social japan context…..I don't know if it's real or just a form of self-indulgence.. And it's happening in many other countries. Regards

  3. The "Single Life" looks like freedom in your 20s and 30s, but Japan is proving that the long game is different.
What I see is that in 40s–50s The "Biological Wall" and a brutal dating market.
The independence of youth often shifts into the Double Care burden, becoming the sole, exhausted caregiver for aging parents with no partner for support.
    Kinda sad.
But when you hit 60+ the risk of Kodokushi (lonely death).
Without a family safety net or massive savings, isolation becomes a logistical and emotional siege.
For many, the choice is between the known hardship of a traditional marriage or the unknown risk of aging solo.
Is the trade-off worth it? What do you think, is independence worth the risk of isolation?

  4. I think your walk perfectly illustrated what you were talking about. Plenty of single girls, often in groups but when they were alone, they walked with a purpose. Not desperate for a companion, just focused on their goals. There were couples and a few were younger but most were more mature. I enjoyed the video. Were you doing a voice over or was it a live narration?

  5. Wow, JE, your take on this subject is so balanced and I think, spot on. I'd add my humble view this way. I think it's a healthy thing that a certain percentage of a population remains single. Marriage most certainly does not equal happiness always and everywhere. I have been single for a very long time and although I'm not averse to a relationship in all circumstances, I know it would take a very special set of circumstances to get me to say bye bye to my, quite happy, single life. The Japanese as a society/people, I believe are probably on average the most intelligent people in the world and it's no surprise that they would develop a society which, I think, correctly views marriage as optional. I'll say this tho..if ever I give up my single life, it'll probably be because of a beautiful Japanese woman. 😊 heheh, great vid!! 🏅 ✨️

  6. Japanese will become extinct eventually at this rate. hope they change marriage mindset before it's too late. well it is hard to survive nowadays

  7. In my country is similar although we don't have Japans work culture number of marriages that stay is getting lower every year just last year we had lowest birth numbers ever since it was started monitoring there is a lot of government incentives for instance buying house in village for dirt cheap just to revive villages since they are dying out young moving to cities or larger towns old stay till they die

  8. The problem is societal norms are changing. There is not one aspect, it is multiple. Everyone is looking for a single, basic problem. Today Japan is huge problem, their population is declining. The problem is that the elderly is depending on the government to take care of them in their elderly years when they can no longer work, and the they are depending on the younger people to pay for it. Japan and S. Korea have a huge problem with this.

  9. Japan’s ‘declining marriage rate’ isn’t a mystery — it’s women choosing freedom over a system that refuses to modernise.

  10. People in Japan are smart and patiently waiting for AI robot revolution(thats around the corner anyway) so when they DO HAVE a baby 10 years from now, they can throw the baby and a robot in a room and forget about the stress and hard work of raising a child, i hope people start to understand that future with AI robots is either the end of human life on Earth or a beautiful garden of Eden heaven start of a leisure lifestyle thousands of years to only get better and better.

  11. That sucks. Japanese women are one of the most sought after women in the world. This will put the final nail on Japan. Only if India, Middle Eastern, and African countries depopulate as they tend to export to many abroad and then they try to replace the host population. This is what can happen to Japan since asexuality is at an all time high in Japan and South Korea.

  12. Marriage has its flaws but the partnership is what matters more. Every human being needs someone , atleast one person who they can rely on, someone who can come to rescue and help if needed. Someone to openly converse with regarding the inner most struggles of life. It’s most needed when people are older perhaps not when they are young and full of energy. The freedom is great but the loneliness will creep in gradually and eventually and it’s terrible place to be if there is no one to listen and provide some solace.

  13. Hi JE, thank you for the informative video. 👍Yes Japan is a country with beautiful nature, very rich history, interesting shrines and temples everywhere and extremely nice and helpful Japanese people.❣ I have seen it by my selves that Japan has also his dark sides, this single person culture is sad. I think we are made to create a happy family with kids, also if you imagine that when getting old no help from husband or wife, no children or grandchildren will visit you, loneliness. I can understand that it is a stability choice and know that having kids is expensive in Japan. Japan has still a long way to go to change the toxic working environment, social contacts and equality of man/ woman, who are terrible. I am from France and I know a few Japanese lady’s here and they all tell me that they don’t want to go back to Japan. One told me that she had to ask permission to her boss in Japan to get pregnant. This is insane.😱 Sorry JE for the long message.🙋‍♂
