Police in Kyoto Prefecture, western Japan, say they have identified the body found on Monday in a mountain forest in Nantan City as that of an 11-year-old boy who had been missing for three weeks.
Police say Adachi Yuki had been missing since his father drove him to school on the morning of March 23. He did not attend class that day.
On March 29, his backpack was found in a mountainous area about three kilometers from the school. On Sunday, shoes, apparently of a child, were found in a different mountainous area between his home and the school.
Police said the body was found in bushes five kilometers northeast of where the shoes were discovered.
