I miss this ramen so much. I was at Ichiran every day. I stayed in Ueno and had one nearby; it was the best way to end a day trip around Tokyo before going to the hotel.

I love this restaurant! But the “best” it is not. It’s a great experience though, and always fun to hit. Not sure where you are, but one of my favorites is Hakata in Namba.

I love Ichiran Ramen as well. It’s a safe option when visiting Japan. However, in some areas the queue is rather tough.

I had it in Nagoya for the first time, not knowing it was a chain. Thought it was quite good.
Later on the next trip I find out if was a chain and was excited to go there in Tokyo. Got really disappointed because it was only okay.

Ichiran serves a niche and that’s drunk people who are out late at odd hours of the morning and need something to eat.
Also first timers to Japan and people who can’t bother to explore or make up their own mind thus being easily influenced by social media.
It is not the blanket best ramen by a long shot. If you explore enough, it won’t even be the best ramen in the neighborhood.

i mean its good and worth to try, but not even close to the best, its a chain store that produces the soup on a factory not near close to the local ramen shop that produces the soup at night and they are open until its sold out

Personally my favourite chain ramen is Kamakura. Ichiran is good and the hate for it is overblown, but I certainly wouldn’t call it the best.
