[homemade] My current Japanese breakfast obsession: natto over rice
This has been one of my favorite simple breakfasts lately. Natto over hot rice is such a normal breakfast in Japan, but I know the texture can be divisive — do you like it, or would you try it?
I didn’t mind the texture of natto but I couldn’t stand the taste.

I really like it with hot rice, soy sauce, and sometimes a little mustard too.

Why is it not mixed? 😁 Looks like you plop it straight out of the pack

It was the stringy mess that I had problrms with.

I love natto! Super nit picky here but if you want to table set properly, make sure the rice is on the left hand side and soup on right hand side: the current setup is considered “serving food for dead people/ancestors”

I know you’re new to this, so don’t be offended. It will benefit you to learn basic table setting for a Japanese home meal. Rice on left, soup on right. All others can sit behind the two.

I bought some gobo root yesterday, I cooked it with carrots, will add that to my meals.

今朝は納豆と山芋のねばねばコンビに、生海苔の味噌汁かな?すごくヘルシーでいいですね!🙂
