We waited in line for this grilled cheese sandwich in Harajuku. So worth the wait, the best grilled cheese I ever had.

But… Those are just regular grilled cheeses with food coloring…

You can do so much better.

    Makes pretty picture.

You should let us know how it turns out later.

    That’s a lot of colour.

Harajuku is great, and while you’re in the neighborhood check out Tokyo’s Korea town, off Shin-Okubo station! I went in 2024 and was blown away – great street food, by far the most diversity of actual residents I’ve ever seen in Japan, lots of youth energy. It felt more like the 2000s Harajuku than Harajuku today (yes I’m an olde).

Speaking of grilled cheese, it’s not rainbow, but this bakery near a former workplace in Shinjuku serves a crazy good grilled cheese that you can also customize with toppings – if you like sweet and salty I recommend adding sugar, it gives it a nice crunch.

It’s just a grilled cheese with a bit of garlic butter. Lol, I do get them everytime I go to harajuku. My kid likes to post it on insta.

Idk if we had it at the same place, but to me it just tasted like the usual grilled cheese. With very bland cheese.

There’s a place in Hawaii that makes these too. They’re definitely bigger than this and I think they sprinkle garlic salt on the bread, but it’s way overpriced for what it is. Tasted fine.
