Mount Fuji and Chureito Pagoda | Most Beautiful Spot in Japan? | We climbed 398 steps for this view
Chureito Pagoda, Honcho Street & Kawaguchiko, Japan – some views you have to earn at dawn, and some that the clouds decide to keep for themselves.
We set the alarm early, earlier than we probably should have, to reach Chureito Pagoda before the crowds arrived. And honestly? It was worth every single one of those 398 steps. Standing beneath the five-storied pagoda with Mount Fuji rising perfectly in the background, framed in soft morning light, is one of those moments that completely stops you in your tracks.
From there, we made our way to Honcho Street to try and get that famous shot of Mount Fuji perfectly framed at the end of the road. It is one of those spots you have seen all over the internet, and standing there in the middle of the street trying to time the photo between passing cars is a lot more chaotic than it looks. Worth it though.
We then headed down to Lake Kawaguchiko, one of the most iconic spots in all of Japan, and spent the rest of the day just breathing it all in. The lake, the stillness, the pace of it. Mount Fuji had other plans for us down at the lake though. The clouds rolled in and never quite left. But there was something quietly beautiful about that too.
