Airbnb has launched a discount promotion targeting Jeju and major Japanese cities ahead of the spring peak travel season, moving to capture short-haul travel demand. The strategy aims to simultaneously attract demand for “experience-based travel” that bundles local experiences with accommodation.
According to industry sources on the 30th, Airbnb is running a promotion offering up to 80% off “Airbnb Experiences” and “Services” for customers who book accommodations in Jeju and Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka in Japan. The move reflects the growing trend of short-haul international and domestic travel demand centered on Jeju and Japan, coinciding with the cherry blossom season.
The promotion goes beyond simple accommodation discounts, focusing on expanding local experience consumption. In Jeju, travelers can enjoy snap photography sessions with professional photographers at discounted prices, while in Japan, local experience programs such as ramen cooking classes and market tours are available at reduced rates. The initiative is designed to encourage spending on experiences and services alongside accommodation bookings, strengthening extended-stay travel.
The promotion runs for two weeks from March 30 to April 12. Korean users who book accommodations during the period will receive discount coupons applicable to experiences and services. Those who book accommodations above a certain amount can receive discounts of up to 100,000 won ($72). The offer applies only to stays completed by the end of this year.
“We prepared these benefits to help guests travel to nearby destinations with ease during the peak spring travel season,” said Seo Ga-yeon, Airbnb Korea Country Manager. “We hope travelers will enhance their convenience and immerse themselves more deeply in local culture through Airbnb by enjoying snap photography, local market tours, cooking classes and more, in addition to accommodations.”
