2000 Animals to Feed! A Day with a Female Japanese Zookeeper
We visited Bio Park Japan and spent the day with the zookeepers there as they made their rounds to prep and feed 2000 animals that they keep at the park. So much fresh food and vegetables have to be prepared every day! 明るく愛想よく語りながら、大量のご飯を運び、ミッションを運転し、更にこの広大な展示場を掃除し、そこに住むたくさんの動物たちのケアもする。雨の日も風の日も、嵐の日はむしろ暴風対策など追加の仕事が舞い込む。動物たちの魅力は飼育員さん達の莫大な労力の上に成り立っています。
The area for the hippos and giraffes is a nightmare‼️
Nowadays they should be kept in big areas, similar to their wildlife conditions in Africa!
Bio Park needs to catch up with these developments of areas in zoos for enclosured animals – also to attract more visitors!
Or, if not, only specialize on small animals and give well designed areas to them
毎日100kg近い餌を切って運ぶだけでも相当な体力仕事なのに、
常に笑顔でお客さんに対応してるのが本当にプロだと思った。
しかも、みんな専門学校や大学でちゃんと動物のこと学んでから来てるんだよね。

ビーバーは伐採やドングリを楽しむための外出許可があり、ミーアキャットやカピバラやキツネザルは園内を自由に歩いている動物園です。ここにいるカバは日本初の人工哺育で育ったカバでプールに入って彼女に泳ぎ方を教えたのはここの園長です。園内には大きな岩山がありそこにはラマが住んでいます。私のお気に入りはカピバラと同居しているエジプトガンです。
