16.5 Hours on the Winter Sea of Japan: Is it Rough Enough? Niigata to Otaru
I’ve been hooked on rough waters recently. So I’m taking the Shin Nihonkai Ferry again from Niigata to Otaru.

amazing trip , delicious food
The food looks fabulous
First thing I thought of was the “Empire March” theme from Star Wars when I saw all the storm footage. Did you “jump” when the bow kept dropping?
It was way too easy to guess what you were "most craving" Solo San. Thanks for the video!
"I'm ready to eat". 😂😂
😊☕🏆🏆
I love a rough seas ferry journey – brilliant stuff. ❤
Dang, what a wild ride! Darn cold there, while its the high 30s here in the Philippines as summer is starting in earnest!
Who would have thought you would start liking rough seas?
Mmmm, Bull Dog tonkatsu sauce.
For that price, this is a very nice, well designed stateroom. Just enough space for everything so that it's not completely crammed together. And having the window helps significantly! I doubt paying for the balcony would have really increased the enjoyment of this trip, since you can still sees the waves without.
I love whenever we see those exclamation marks when you are eating. It makes me happy that you are eating delicious food on your trips for us. ❤Happy travels!
“Tonight…on Deadliest Catch…”
Seriously though…I doubt the waves would faze me. When I went on a whale watching trip during a trip to Seattle, I stood out on the deck of the boat as we sped towards the location. Got a bit of wind burn, but my Minnesota boat loving heart was digging it!
Enjoy Sapporo! But, if you see Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina…RUN!!!
What a waste of sea sickness pills, if you took any!! LOL 😁😁The sailing was like walking on Lego in the middle of the night, or skateboarding at a kids' park, very lacklustre in waves!! Maybe try the Pacific Side in Winter for more dipping and tossing, the Japan Sea route seems tame. But you tried!! From what 1inch to about 6 inches of snow, I would think you are in the Canadian North, hahahaha! So onto the next adventure
Ships too shaky to safely handle hot Udon and Ramen, serves Miso Soup

I KNEW you would order Curry
It starts now, we head towards it A tomorrow for just the two of us that is freedom, let it be a new wind The two of us go to the island of tomorrow. Sunflower, Sunflower
They ARE getting smaller! Vacationing in NZ ATM … had a Japanese curry the other day for about the same price but twice as big. I even ate tofu. 😁
Yes, the curry dish was for sure on the smaller side, hardly any beef and mostly sauce but it did look delicious 😋 Thanks for another awesome video STJ 👍🏻👏🏻😊
Rough waves are an adrenaline spike for sure for you ❤ The cabin looked very cozy under those conditions and very pleasant. The ship resembled a small cruise ship. The food portions did look scaled down unfortunately and I thought it was even before this visit. Snow piles viewed from your taxi reminds me of the piles of it here outside of Manhattan couple of weeks ago. ❤
Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience and video ! Dan
Of course, your craving had to be curry. 😁
Mt Rainier coffee?
We have corrupted you into loving rough waters 😂 sorry it wasn’t rough enough for you
