Walking at Dawn through Fujiyoshida | Yamanashi, Japan

Walking at dawn on the quiet streets of Fujiyoshida to Chureito Pagoda in Yamanashi, Japan. The streets in town, particularly Nishiura Street and Fujiyoshida Retro Shopping Street are famous for their long stretches of buildings with Mt. Fuji towering over them. Unfortunately this morning was a bit cloudy so there were only a couple brief glimpses of the mountain. The viewpoint at Chureito Pagoda is also famous for its views of Fuji, though this morning the clouds blocked its view.

It was still a very nice walk in the town, through Omuro Sengen Shrine and its neighboring horse stables, by Shimoyoshida Station, and up the stairs to Arakurayama Sengen Park. I stayed at the viewpoint for about half an hour waiting for the mountain, but there was a huge cloud bank and it didn’t seem like it would be appearing anytime soon.

  1. hello again sir!:). so because im a nerd and well .. you understand lol. so yamanashi being the "fruit capital" they must have the most beautiful warm seasons when the plums and such bloom. if your ever able to catch a mass bloom like i heard the cherry bloomed just last week! that would be really amazing:). so at 9:15 and 11:10 (or 21 sorry) on the right side of the shot theres graffiti thats really neat the serving girl and the panda with the tile,i love REAL graff, not just sloppy tags but art ya know. and lastly i was wondering why the city proper seemed.. the way it did , too our decerning eyes, that the "town" was rebuild duringafter ww2 from heavy bombing so the architecture is of 20th century make and model, although the real reason i stumbled apon that was you can see many buildings and empty lots you can tell "were" little shops or places that were used regularly that must have fallen to disrepair or "urban development"? so it is nice to see that theres at least some of the more traditional styling even if some of its "rebuilt" because of 80 years ago. as always thank you for your window! and im saving the Vietnam videos i want to go there and it will undoubtably feed my wanderlust lol . take care! p.s. 15:48 that street looks a bit sketchy lololol

  2. thanks for sharing. people say yamanashi is overcrowded with tourists but i feel its only because they been to only kawaguchiko. once outside of that main lake area, its lovely just like your video shows. cant wait to be back next winter
