Exclusive: Japan’s Bitters End has closed the first sales of Sai: Disaster, the psychological suspense thriller that premiered in Competition at San Sebastian.
The film has been acquired for France (Art House Films), South Korea (Eqty through distribution arm Livet) and Taiwan (Proview Entertainment). Negotiations are underway for further territories including the US, UK, Spain, Portugal and Southeast Asia.
Directed by Yutaro Seki and Kentaro Hirase, the film stars Teruyuki Kagawa (Creepy) and Anne Nakamura (Grand Maison Paris). The directing duo, collectively known as gogatsu, previously premiered their feature Roleless at San Sebastian in 2021.
