Japan’s Hidden Gems: Hiroshima | Places Most Tourists Miss

I’ve spent over two months traveling Japan across three separate trips, returning to Hiroshima on every visit and staying there for an extended period. In this video, I’m sharing my personal list of the best hidden gems in the Hiroshima region, based entirely on places I visited myself and would genuinely recommend. With so much sponsored and repetitive travel content online, this series is meant to offer a reliable, experience-based guide to destinations most travelers overlook.

While many visitors only see Hiroshima City, the wider region offers far more than most itineraries suggest. This video covers essential historical sites within the city, including lesser-known museums, as well as food, gardens, and landmarks that can be explored in a single day. Beyond the city, I take you to Miyajima beyond the famous torii gate, Ōkunoshima Rabbit Island, the coastal town of Onomichi and its island cycling route, scenic locations in Yamaguchi Prefecture, and additional day trips to places such as Fukuoka, Fukuyama, Himeji, and Kobe.
