Winter in Hokkaido (part 1) | snowy Sapporo + day trip to Otaru

This travel came at a really crucial time in my life – I just lost my mom a couple of weeks before the scheduled trip. But I thought long about how she herself would tell me to go and explore if she were still here with us.

Sapporo, and Hokkaido in general has topped my most favorite region in Japan. It isn’t as hectic as Tokyo or as lively as Osaka. It is slow, quaint, beautiful, and has that special vibe to it. I don’t think there is any place in the world that has this similar vibe in winter.

This video shows our first 2 days in Hokkaido – a snowy Sapporo day, and a day trip to Otaru.
