Ride & Seek has announced a new historical cycling adventure that explores the terrain of Japan’s northernmost island Hokkaido.
The 14-day tour will explore forests and plains, coastlines, mountains and volcanic landscapes, and will include stays at Japanese Inns and western-style hotels, as well as opportunities to enjoy traditional cuisine and natural hot springs. The inaugural tour will depart on Sept. 3, 2026, starting at $8,960 per person based on double occupancy.
“Even compared to our other cycling tours in Japan, Hokkaido simply hits different,” said Dylan Reynolds, founder of Ride & Seek, in a press release statement. “From quiet roads to alpine heights and coastal vistas, it has some of the best riding you’ve never heard of. Add incredible food, natural hot springs and unique insight into Indigenous culture, and it makes for a tour that stays with you long after it ends.”
Highlights of the new Hokkaido – Japan’s Last Frontier tour will include crossing the Tokachi Plain to learn about Indigenous Ainu culture and cycling through the flower fields of Daisetsuzan National Park.
Travelers can explore Niseko’s breathtaking Panorama Line and the volcanic calderas of Lakes Toya and Shikotsu, as well as pedaling the coast of the Shakotan Peninsula, famous for its crystal blue waters and world-class seafood. Other experiences will include soaking in the mineral-rich waters of Shirogane Onsen and exploring the steaming geothermal landscapes of Noboribetsu.
The tour will include all accommodations, breakfasts and group dinners, most lunches, nutrition for rides, Ride & Seek kit and water bottle, GPS with preloaded routes, knowledgeable guides and airport transfers.
With the new Hokkaido tour as well as the addition of Kyushu to the Samurai Epic itinerary, Ride & Seek now offers itineraries on all four of Japan’s main islands.
