RV Camping in Japan – 2 Weeks in Hokkaido by Camper Van | Ferry, Michi-no-Eki & Road Trip Tips
Vanlife Japan by camper van — a full 2-week road trip across Hokkaido.
We start with the ferry from Maizuru to Otaru, then travel the Sea of Japan coast, visit Wakkanai (Japan’s northernmost city), explore Shiretoko National Park, mountain regions, lakes, and coastal towns.
Throughout the trip, we stay overnight at Michi-no-Eki and public parks in our camping car, use local onsen, and share real-world camper van travel tips for Japan. What makes this journey unique is Japanese culture — respect, cleanliness, and shared responsibility — which makes vanlife in Japan possible and enjoyable.
