Winter Tree – Kitanomine, Furano
Fuyunoki is set to stun – a new build with cool boxy exteriors, warm wood-lined interiors, rich inlaid lighting and plenty of Japanese touches that elevate the design.
Book the two bedroom for four guests, the three bedroom for six, or the whole building for ten people total – whatever suits your group’s needs.
Fuyunoki means “winter tree” in Japanese – an apt name for this modern chalet where wood features prominently. This two-storey home is a great meeting of western and Japanese aesthetics, boxy and slick on the outside yet cozy and wood-lined within. Inlaid lighting panels help each room shine, while sliding doors, wood beams and panels help bring the Japanese elements to life.
Fuyunoki is a newly constructed chalet, rare in Furano, where refurbishments are popular. There are two floors, and Fuyunoki offers two apartment options, each one split-level with bedrooms downstairs and living areas upstairs. Each unit has roomy bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, ski storage in the entrance, and a full kitchen and laundry on hand for extended stays and resort living. The three-bedroom Unit B is especially stunning, with a central console in the living room housing both flat-screen TV and a gas fireplace you can see through to the windows outside.
Both apartments are lavish and warm, with classy furniture pieces, modern appliances, not to mention centralised heating keeping you toasty throughout the home. Speaking of resort living, you’ll love how easy it is to get to Furano’s Kitanomine gondola from here – just a 5-minute walk! With most of Kitanomine’s main attractions an easy stroll away, and bus stops taking you in to Furano Town or beyond, you won’t need a car to get around in Fuyunoki. But should you bring one, the undercover parking is a real treasure when the powder begins to fall.
