JR East and JR Hokkaido to Offer the “Hokkaido & East Japan Pass” Again

JR East and JR Hokkaido will once again offer the “Hokkaido & East Japan Pass.”

This pass allows unlimited rides for 7 consecutive days on ordinary car non-reserved seats of local (futsu) and rapid trains, as well as BRT, on all lines of JR East, JR Hokkaido, Aoimori Railway, IGR Iwate Galaxy Railway, and Hokuetsu Express in Japan.

To use Shinkansen or limited express trains, both a basic fare ticket and a limited express ticket are required for the section traveled. However, on the Hokkaido Shinkansen between Shin-Aomori and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Stations, for trips starting and ending within this section only, passengers can use vacant seats in ordinary cars by purchasing a designated special limited express ticket. In addition, on the Ou Main Line between Aomori and Shin-Aomori Stations, for trips starting and ending within this section only, passengers can use non-reserved ordinary cars of limited express and express trains, as well as ordinary cars of local and rapid trains where all cars are reserved-seat cars. On the Sekisho Line between Shintoku and Shin-Yubari Stations and on the Muroran Main Line between Higashi-Muroran and Muroran Stations, for trips starting and ending within each section only, passengers can use reserved seats in ordinary cars of limited express and express trains.

The price is 11,530 yen for adults and 5,760 yen for children for passes sold up to March 13, and 11,780 yen for adults and 5,890 yen for children for passes sold on and after March 14.

The valid travel periods are: spring from March 1 to April 22, summer from July 1 to September 30, and winter from December 11 to January 11, 2027. The sales periods are: from February 13 to April 16, from June 20 to September 24, and from November 27 to January 5, 2027, respectively.
