Konnichiwa! This is Art Thomya at ASAI Kyoto Shijo . Iโ€™ve been to Kyoto quite a few times and I love this neighbourhood, Shijo โ€“ only 2 subway stations away from Kyoto Station.

Alright, letโ€™s check-in first. Here, itโ€™s self-check-in system with local staff to assist you. On the ground floor, thereโ€™s also a restaurant and bar which welcomes both internal and external guests. Thereโ€™s a communal space for work and leisure. I like the interior which blends modern comfort with Kyotoโ€™s heritage.

Now, we walk pass the elevator to my room which is also on the ground floor.
The room is a little more spacious than that of standard business hotel in Kyoto and has all the convenience I need. A big bed with stylish decoration in ASAI style. I love it that there is a proper desk as I always work on my laptop every night. All the information and work instructions are available for you on the desk. Free Wi-fi too.

Now, letโ€™s take a look at the toilet and bathroom. The toilet is Japanese style โ€“ clean and modern. You can control everything by putting these buttons. the bathroom provides two options for you โ€“ rain shower and normal shower. Nice amenities too.
The room has a nice layout. When I pack my luggage, it needs space and I can do it here on the floor. Thereโ€™s a TV hanging on the wall too.

Wooden slippers are available for guests to use within the hotel. With hotel green policy, so you can choose not to change your towel every day to save the earth.

Their mugs are cute. And thereโ€™s complimentary water in the room. The hotel provides Japanese-style pajamas for guests. So, no worry if you forgot to bring one.

The common space has a vibrant community feel, a nice interior and lighting. For music lovers, you can find collections of Japanese music from the 80s and 90s. Quite cool. Thereโ€™re some interesting books in this area.

ASAI merchandise items are available to shop back home. When you get thirsty, thereโ€™s free infused water available.

As ASAI is a Thai brand, some Thai food products are displayed here. The restaurant is also certified with Thai SELECT logo, ensuring Thai food is authentic here. You can see they serve โ€˜Khao Gaengโ€™ or โ€˜Thai curryโ€™ and thereโ€™s lunch menu for everyone who craves Thai food.

You can get a free map suggesting how to explore local neighborhood. Letโ€™s walk to Nishiki Market for some local food. With more than 130 stalls and shops, Nishiki Market has over 1,300 years of history. I can say thereโ€™s huge variety of food here. Just 10-minute walk from ASAI.

The next morning, I enjoyed breakfast at the hotel, starting with a wide selection of drinks. I feel itโ€™s cozy here at the ground floor. You can choose wherever you wanna sit. It is a set menu, so you order what you want. For me, I chose โ€˜Massaman Curryโ€™ with โ€˜Khai Jeowโ€™ or Thai Omelette, to eat with rice and some side dishes.

My stay at ASAI on this trip was very comfortable. Itโ€™s not just a place to stay, but I feel, with its design, it encourages interaction between guests and local people and shows both Kyotoโ€™s culture and Thai culture through different items displayed around the hotel.

Hope to be back here again. Matane!
