Niigata, Japan 🇯🇵 | Cruise Port Day Exploring the City, Shrines & Sake Tasting
Join us as we spend an unforgettable day in Niigata, Japan, during our cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Spectrum of the Seas 🇯🇵🚢
After arriving at Niigata East Cruise Port, we hop on the convenient shuttle bus into the city, getting dropped off at Niigata Bus Station—the perfect starting point to explore. From there, we dive straight into the city centre in search of Japan’s legendary shopping experiences, and Niigata certainly doesn’t disappoint!
We wander across the iconic Bandai Bridge, explore the lively Bandai Market, and then stumble upon the beautifully serene Sanwacho Shinto Shrine. This peaceful spot quickly becomes one of our favourite moments of the day, giving us the chance to slow down and soak up the magic of Niigata away from the crowds.
Of course, no visit to Niigata would be complete without sake 🍶
We head to the famous Ponshukan Sake Museum & Shop, where over 100 different types of sake are available from vending machines. It’s an incredibly fun and unique tasting experience, and we make the most of the amazing variety and quality on offer.
Back onboard Spectrum of the Seas, the day ends perfectly with a stunning sunset at sea, a delicious dinner, plenty of cocktails, and a fantastic magician show to round off the evening.
Niigata truly was an utter delight—and we can’t wait to share this amazing day with you.

Does too much Sake give you verbal diarrhoea like it did to Si 😂.. What effects would it have on you ?
That shrine was a lovely find ❤.
My daughter informs us we have sake to thank for being grandparents 😂. It's dangerous stuff haha
Great vlog guys, thanks for taking us with you ❤
Just drop me off at the Sake tasting, Pick me up before ship departure
This really was a trip of a life time and awesome to experience Japan! You are like us we love going to foreign supermarkets even Nick who hates shopping and doesn’t do it at home but thoroughly enjoys it abroad! I oh Netty has found the sweet treats! Aww fab Chris found a geocache all the way over in Japan 🇯🇵👍 love how happy the frog 🐸 made you Si! The robotic cocktail bar looks ace! Crazy how they don’t cater for tourists it’s a true local experience! The show sounded fun but I’m guessing Si doesn’t suffer with FOMO 😁 look forward to more adventures ❤
Wow…dogs in vending machines and frogs in temples….only in Japan 😂 Strange, weird and wacky!! What an experience guys. Glad you enjoyed your saki experience. I've only tried it once, never again 🤣 Thanks for sharing your day with us.
Love ports like this, authentic and you just don’t know what you will see which makes it so much fun. We love a local market, they always have way better produce than we can get. They have a vending machine for everything but the Sake vending machine is dangerous 😂 Great vlog guys, can’t wait for the next instalment ❤
