There are lots of new attractions opening over the next few months in spring 2026 in Japan. Finally we have an opening date for Kawaii Monster Land in Harajuku, as well as a floorplan, and tickets are available now. It looks like a true kawaii wonderland! Two new immersive attractions have opened: Miracle World Osaka and the Moveum Yokohama – how do they compare to TeamLab? There’s a faux bonsai workshop, several stamp rallies, a new Evangelion ride announced for Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Nagasaki and a new matcha-themed cruise in Hakone with views of Mount Fuji. There are some temporary closures coming up, and Immersive Fort Tokyo’s closing it’s doors. The first permanent Sanrio Museum’s been announced in Yamanashi prefecture, there’s a new Tabelog app for foreigners to book restaurants in Japan, and new rules about rubbish bins and litter in Shibuya. Kura Sushi has a super-cute collaboration with Cinnamoroll, you can now store luggage at 7-Eleven convenience stores, there’s a Jujutsu Kaisen anime themed shinkansen, winter illuminations at the Nintendo Museum and lots of exhibitions, including My Melody and Kuromi, Ghost in the Shell, Capcom, Sebastian Masuda, Takashi Murakami and many more.

  1. happy new year! hope its goes well for you. i got confirmation on my time to visit Japan this year, sadly it starts in the middle of golden week, still happy i can go.

  2. Happy New Year!! Thank you for all the news, it's super helpful when planning my trips. TeamLab Biovortex was awesome. It's now my favorite TL installation. They are masters of space utilization, making smaller spaces seem endless. Managed to score tickets for the third week after it opened and visited on a very rainy Kyoto morning. I've visited Borderless and Planets previously. The new areas are very unique and super fun. My favorites: one of the corridors has kanji icons that come down the wall from the ceiling and when tapped, burst into artwork that shows the kanji meaning – ki grows a tree, kin sparkles of gold, tori a flock of sparrows, etc. The room filled with metallic ball shaped balloons that whirl into a tornado around you very much brings you back to giggling childhood. I spent 2/3 of the day inside and didn't become bored or run out of things to do.

  3. Great update, thanks! Just so you know, the best pronunciation of Huis Ten Bosch for an English person is probably "House Ten Bosh". In Dutch, "huis" would be pronounced differently, but don't worry about it! 🙂
