Confused in Afghanistan 🇦🇫

  1. What it has to do with US soldiers (better said, the terrorists americans, who where killing afghan people, raping women, and bombing the beautiful land of Afghanistan? Have some respect and be kind.

  2. In Afghanistan, the informal exclamation "Oh Hey" (or something close to it) is most likely to be found in Dari Persian or Hazaragi (a Dari dialect).

    Here’s why:

Dari Persian speakers (including Tajiks and many Hazaras) often use sounds like "Oh", "Hey", or "Aya" as casual calls or ways to get someone’s attention.

These exclamations don’t have a fixed dictionary meaning but are more like informal shouts or ways to say “Hey!” or “Come here!”

For example, "Aya" (آیا) literally means “come” or “are you there?” and is often used when calling someone.

Pashto speakers generally use shorter sounds like “O!” or “Aya!” to call attention but don’t combine them as “Oh Hey.”

So, if you heard something like “Oh Hey” in Afghanistan, it’s most probably coming from Dari Persian/Hazaragi speakers using informal or playful attention calls.

  3. No they didn’t tell us “go away” 😂 depending on where you were at you would either be greeted by overly friendly people that were genuinely happy to see us or for instance if you’re in a convoy & driving through a small village the kids would stand on the side of the road and throw rocks while cussing and screaming at us. Those exact same children would then have a “change of heart” when they seen us giving the other kids in the village that didn’t throw rocks or cuss at us all sorts of snacks, candy, & water. Frankly I couldn’t care less about that place anymore and will be just just perfect if I never return to that sandbox ever again.
