Kyrgyzstan and Japan have taken new steps to deepen economic cooperation during President Sadyr Japarov’s working visit to Japan, held alongside the first Central Asia + Japan Dialogue Summit and the Central Asia + Japan Business Forum.
As part of the visit, Kyrgyz Minister of Economy and Commerce Bakyt Sydykov and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi signed an agreement to eliminate double taxation on income and prevent tax evasion and avoidance, The Caspian Post reports Kyrgyz media.
The deal establishes clear rules on taxing different types of income, provides safeguards against double taxation, and is expected to encourage bilateral trade and attract foreign direct investment into Kyrgyzstan’s economy.
At the Central Asia + Japan Business Forum, Minister Sydykov and JETRO Chairman and CEO Ishiguro Norihiko exchanged an action plan aimed at strengthening the Kyrgyz Export Center under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, in cooperation with the Japan External Trade Organization. The plan builds on a Memorandum of Cooperation signed in Astana in August 2024 and focuses on export development and promotion.
In addition, the two sides agreed to establish a Kyrgyzstan-Japan intergovernmental commission on trade, economy, culture, and human resource exchange, underscoring the growing scope of bilateral partnership and long-term cooperation.
