Indonesia secured investment commitments of US$28.9 billion (Rp450 trillion) during its participation in World Expo 2025 Osaka, marking a significant achievement over the six-month global exhibition.
Throughout the six-month event which ended on October 13, 2025, the Indonesia Pavilion attracted more than 3.5 million visitors, exceeding the initial target of 2.8 million. The pavilion’s strong performance was further recognized with a Silver Award for Self-Built Pavilion, underscoring Indonesia’s effective presentation and engagement on the international stage.
The exhibition facilitated more than 104 business engagements, encompassing various forms of cooperation, including Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), Letters of Intent (LoIs), and agreements in the tourism sector.
Minister of National Development Planning/Head of National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) Rachmat Pambudy emphasized that the success of the Indonesia Pavilion represents a lasting legacy and a strategic foundation for future achievements.
“Expo Osaka was not only about recording success; it demonstrated that when we are determined and blessed by God, we are capable of achieving great things,” Rachmat said as quoted in a statement on Sunday, December 21, 2025.
The Indonesia Pavilion adopted the theme “Thriving in Harmony: Nature, Culture, Future,” showcasing the country’s natural wealth, cultural wisdom, and vision for a sustainable future.
This achievement was supported by strong cross-sector collaboration involving ministries and government agencies, regional governments, business players, creative communities, and Indonesian partners in Japan.
To conclude the Expo series, the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas also launched a book titled Thriving in Harmony: Nature, Culture, Future, which documents Indonesia’s participation in the event.
Deputy Minister of National Development Planning/Deputy Head of Bappenas Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard said the book comprehensively records the strategic processes behind Indonesia’s presence in Osaka, reflecting the nation’s excellence in line with the Expo 2025 Osaka theme, “Creating Future Society for Our Lives.”
“Hopefully, the spirit we built in Osaka will serve as a strategic foundation for Indonesia’s global role and contribute meaningfully to the realization of Indonesia’s Golden Vision 2045,” Febrian added.
Through the publication, Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment that participation in World Expo 2025 Osaka goes beyond event achievements, serving instead as a valuable reference and learning experience for future international engagements, ensuring continuity of global partnerships and sustaining the collaborative momentum established on the world stage.
