TOKYO (TR) – A male drunk driver caused an accident on the Toden Arakawa Line tracks in Kita Ward on Sunday, resulting in services on the line to be temporarily suspended, reports TV Asahi (Dec. 21).
Around 1:00 p.m., a person contacted the Toden Arakawa Line office near the Oji Ekimae stop to report that a car was stuck and could not move.
The car had lost a wheel after it crashed into an overpass pillar, leaving it unable to move on the tracks.
As a result of the accident, Toden Arakawa Line services were suspended for over an hour between the Oji Ekimae and Waseda stops.
According to police, the driver of the car involved in the accident, a man in his 50s, was arrested on the spot after a breathalyzer test revealed alcohol levels above the legal limit.
