A group from Camborne Science and International Academy (CSIA) recently travelled to Japan to attend the Global Super Forum, an international gathering hosted by Ritsumeikan School.

The forum brought together young people from around the world to discuss the theme of coexistence and explore how communities can live together harmoniously.

Emma Haase, principal of CSIA, said: “Trips like this show our students what’s possible. They come home more confident, more curious, and more connected to the world around them.

“That’s exactly the kind of education we want to provide.”

Students delivered a cultural performance to share elements of British culture with their peers and travelled through cities including Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima, and Osaka.

They explored ancient temples, historic castles, and other landmarks, with the visit to Hiroshima’s A-bomb site described as one of the most powerful and moving parts of the journey.

The two-week trip also gave students the chance to experience Japanese customs, forge international friendships, and gain a deeper understanding of global perspectives.

This is the second year students from Camborne have taken part in a Japanese global forum.

Last year, they taught the Trevithick Day dance to peers from 16 schools across 13 countries and presented research on sustainable futures.

The school says opportunities like these reflect its wider ethos of giving students experiences beyond the classroom, chances to grow in confidence, discover new interests and broaden their outlook on the world.
