HOKKAIDO (TR) – Hokkaido Prefectural Police earlier this month arrested an 80-year-old real estate agent for allegedly stealing toilet paper from a gas station in Obihiro City.
As he fled the scene on December 13, Tadakatsu Kano struck a male employee with his light passenger vehicle, reports HTB News (Dec. 16).
According to police, Kano is suspected of stealing two rolls of toilet paper that had been left out as a complimentary gift to customers who filled up the station.
During questioning, Kano partially denied the charges. “I only stole one roll of toilet paper,” he said. “There is no doubt that I hit the employee with my car.”
The two rolls of toilet paper are valued at 40 yen, police said.
The suspect’s vehicle struck the male employee multiple times in the lower body while he fled. The male employee, who had tried to stop Kano, was not injured.
