I feel like I just gave y’all some good news about Fortnite Mobile’s return, but it seems the Apple lawsuit of frustration and despair has continued. This time, Epic Games has announced that Fortnite Mobile won’t be released in Japan just yet.

This time around, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said he is disagreeing with Apple’s policies (again). He noted that Apple has a 21% fee for third-party purchasing on games in the App Store and that Apple API can collect transactional data from third-party apps on Japanese iOS devices.

He tweeted: “Sadly, Fortnite will not return to iOS in Japan in 2025 as promised. Apple was required to open up iOS to competing stores today, and instead of doing so honestly, they have launched another travesty of obstruction and lawbreaking in gross disrespect to the government and people of Japan.

“Apple chose poorly again.”

This comes after an ongoing legal battle between Epic Games and Apple over transaction fees. The result? The US District Court found some of Apple’s policies to be illegal. Now, Epic is refusing to return Fortnite to Japanese devices due to these ongoing practices.

Fortnite Mobile was originally supposed to return to Japanese players in late 2025. Unfortunately, the delay is now indefinite as Epic waits for Apple to change its policies.
