Snowy Otaru: Walking Through Japan’s Most Magical Winter Town
Hello! Hello!
I’m The Solo Bumpkin Travels. I’m currently in Otaru, Hokkaido,
a city with a retro feel. We’ll bring you the latest news from
snowy Otaru So let’s take a walk around Japan together! Have you ever been to Otaru? This is my first time in Otaru Snow is forecast for Otaru all day today. I was born in a snowy country,
so I’m used to snowy roads. But I came in sneakers… The current temperature is -1°C (30.2°F). One of the first railways in Hokkaido,
opened in 1880. It was closed in 1985,
leaving only the tracks as they were. A popular photo spot in Otaru, where history and
nostalgia remain intact. Enjoy the sound of snow as you head to
the next spot I finally came to a place
I’ve seen so many times in photos and videos. Otaru Canal Otaru was once known as the heart of
Hokkaido. It has developed as a logistics hub and
economic city. It stopped being used and was just left abandoned. Plans to fill the road are raised. However, residents rose up to protect the canal. Now it’s a spot visited by tourists from all over the world. It’s cold so I’m taking shelter in the
museum ⛄️ Video recording is prohibited,
so I’ll show you some photos. These were actually displayed in churches
in England. The paintings are related to the Bible
and the teachings of Christ. Coffee time at the attached cafe You can relax while looking out at the
Otaru Canal. Hot and crispy apple pie It’s hot! 😂 But delicious 😋 I ordered the Bonfire Blend coffee. There were so many types,
so I asked the staff to help me choose. It has a smoky scent like a bonfire It feels like you’re sitting by a bonfire Next, we came to a shop selling glass
accessories. When you think of Hokkaido, this is it! This is a long-tailed tit So cute! I’d buy this! Hokkaido’s local glass It’s small so it makes a good souvenir. (If I don’t lose it…) There are a lot of old retro buildings. The remaining buildings that were not
demolished are being used. An oil lamp is lit on the wall Apparently black tea is the best choice! I ended up ordering the Otaru Beer
tasting set lol I can’t film here, so I took some photos instead. There are 167 kerosene lamps in the hall It seems like it would be hard just to
turn them all on. It was such a lovely space that I wanted to stay longer. The famous steam clock Many music boxes are lined up You can also learn about the history of
music boxes It seems to be very popular with tourists
from Korea ☺️ There is also music performance at the
nearby second store. Wonderful sounds and mysterious
mechanisms Everyone is listening intently A beautiful building with tangled ivy Exciting retro paths Take a walk around the neighborhood Back on the canal The snow shows no signs of stopping It seems like a great time to take a
commemorative photo. The snowman looks happy too…? This is the back street of the canal Warm light helps… but it’s still cold lol You can compare Otaru beers and enjoy a meal. The second floor is free to explore It introduces how to make beer and the
tools used. I would have loved to have dinner here I had to hold off because there was a
restaurant I wanted to go to. In the end, I couldn’t get into the store… It was fully booked😭 When the lamp is lit, the atmosphere
changes completely. Is this a Christmas version? Let’s warm up with dinner! I went to a pub in front of Otaru
Station. I ordered a variety of things at a cozy
restaurant. This is Hokkaido’s specialty, Zangi Today I took a walk around snowy Otaru It’s easy to go sightseeing because you
can walk around. But in winter, wear shoes that won’t get wet or slippery! Thank you for watching until the end 🫶 Let’s go for a walk together again 👋
Snow falls quietly over the streets of Otaru — one of Japan’s most magical winter towns.
In this peaceful solo walk, I explore the snowy canals, retro warehouses, and silent morning streets of Hokkaido’s famous port city.
No narration, just the sound of footsteps, winter wind, and the charm of an old harbor town covered in white.
If you love calm travel videos, winter atmospheres, and hidden corners of Japan, I hope this snowy walk brings you a little peace ❄️✨
Enjoy the journey.

Otaru looks truly magical! This snowy walk is so inspiring and captures the beauty of Japan's winter perfectly. Thank you! 👍❤🌹🌹
2009年夏に行きました。廃線も運河も同じ!町中、いろんな案内標識がロシア語併記だったのが印象に残っているが、今どうなっているだろうか…。
Thanks for watching!
