4 Days on Japan’s Luxury Train, The Royal Express Today I’m here at Yokohama Station First, guests are guided to The Royal Lounge I ordered some tea and some sweets The strawberries go perfectly with tea I really had a wonderful time here It’s time to board, so let’s head to the train Let’s head to the train platform This is the Royal Express, the train we will be riding It’s a luxury train which costs over $10,000 Let’s get on the train The interior features a luxurious design using wood Even the ceiling design is beautiful Now, the train has departed The Royal Express’s 4 Day journey has begun This journey circles Mount Fuji, a symbol of Japan Now let’s explore the interior Let’s move to Car Number 3 Car No. 3 has a lighter color design Let’s move to the car ahead Car No. 2 is a long dining car Let’s continue moving forward Now, this is the front of the train Let’s see the view from the front I could see Mt. Fuji! Let’s enjoy the beautiful Japanese scenery from the front Now let’s go back to the rear car It’s about time to eat lunch Our meal is ready This is the menu Today’s lunch is authentic French cuisine This is the first dish The first dish is “Eggplant salad” It’s a bit bright, so I closed the curtains A professional violinist and pianist perform for us The theme of the performance is symphony The sea has come into view It’s a very beautiful view The next dish has arrived The dish is “Carrot fondant with red shrimp concassé” The next dish has arrived This dish is called “Mount Fuji Salmon Ponche” Let’s enjoy the luxurious taste of salmon This dish is called “Amagi Pork with Chocolate-Fragrant Red Wine Sauce” The sauce was especially delicious We’re passing through Mishima Station in Shizuoka Our dessert arrived It’s a four-layer pudding made with mandarin oranges After the meal, we were served freshly brewed green tea Shizuoka Prefecture is famous for its tea leaves Because it’s freshly brewed, it has a great aroma This marks the end of our luxurious lunch Mount Fuji now looks much closer It’s Japan’s highest mountain and a symbol of the country Let’s explore the interior again I found a seat where I can relax and enjoy the scenery It seems we have stopped at the station Looks like I’ll be stopping for a while The car that was at the rear earlier is now at the front It seems we’ve changed direction and are heading toward Mount Fuji Now I’m back at my seat to eat some snacks I’ve ordered some sweets Let’s enjoy with some tea I ordered a Mont Blanc Cake that uses chestnuts Let’s relax for a while until the next stop We’ve arrived at the station Our current location is Mishima Station This time I’m leaving the station The station staff welcomed us with a banner I came out of Mishima Station From here, we will take a bus to the hotel Let’s get on board right away Many people were waving at us as we left For now, we part ways with the Royal Express Our destination is today’s hotel, Numazu Club The hotel is located in Senbon Matsubara It’s located near Mount Fuji, which has been depicted in old artworks There was a footrest under the seat Tea made with pesticide-free tea leaves was served The sun is gradually setting We’ve entered the pine forest Magnificent rows of pine trees stretch out We’ve arrived at the hotel The pine trees are swaying in the wind This is our room where we’ll stay today The room feels very spacious and open A welcome drink was prepared on the table Let’s open the glass door It feels nice to feel the breeze Let’s go out onto the balcony There was a small pond right in front of our room Mt. Fuji can also be seen from the balcony Now let’s take a look around the hotel while it’s still bright I’ve now come to the coast I have a clear view of both the sea and Mount Fuji The wind is very strong, but the scenery is beautiful It’s become quite dark after sunset The gates and passages are lit up I’ve returned to the hotel building Let’s go to the lounge space in front. I’ll stay here until dinner time. It’s time for dinner First, let’s look at the drink menu Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are provided I decided to order sparkling water The bubbles are sparkling in the glass Let’s take a look at the food menu Today’s menu includes Shanghai crab, shark fin, and more The first dish is mushroom soup It was a delicious soup with a strong hroom flavor Next came horse sashimi It was fresh and delicious Next up is “Shanghai crab” Let’s enjoy the whole crab Next is “Yadro Japanese Chicken” The sauce in the set is rich in white sesame I’ll enjoy it with a slightly spicy chicken sauce Next up is “Nitsuke Gyoza,” a Japanese dumpling Let’s dip the dumpling in the sauce It was a perfect match Next is “Karamen” This also went perfectly with the sauce Next up is shark fin It looks super hot The shark fin was soft and the soup was delicious Next is “Kakutana” This is a cruciferous vegetable, a type of cabbage The last dish is “Mapo Tofu” It was a luxurious and satisfying dinner I had a very delicious dinner I’ve returned to my hotel room I’ll take a good rest for tomorrow Good Morning Luckily the weather today is great I came to the port near the hotel It’s so quiet here that all I can hear is the ocean Next I came to the beach we visited yesterday The sun is still hidden behind the mountains This concludes our early morning exploration I came back for breakfast This is today’s breakfast Let’s enjoy the view of the garden I came outside the building Now let’s go back to my room I’ve returned to my room After taking a bath, I leave the hotel I think I can take a bath soon The water temperature was just right and felt nice I’ll be getting ready to leave soon I’ve left the hotel and got on the bus We’re heading towards Numazu Station We’ve arrived at Numazu Station Let’s enter the station I’ve entered the station And finally The Royal Express arrived The train body is lit up in blue It’s a reunion after a day I got on the train and found a seat Let’s open the desk and set it up The train will soon depart The train has departed It’s time to say goodbye to Numazu Mount Fuji looks beautiful today I found a nice seat to relax There was an old art work depicting Mt. Fuji here We drove for a while and then stopped again The beautiful snow-capped peak of Mount Fuji is visible The train has left the station again The train runs alongside the highway It’s almost time for lunch I returned to my seat for lunch Some food had already been brought in The train has really picked up speed The eel was delicious as expected Next, let’s add salt and wasabi on top This was the most delicious way to enjoy it I chose green tea as my drink, which is typical in Japan Let’s enjoy the view while waiting for next dish Live music is performed by professionals The violin tone is very pleasant Before the main course arrived, I ordered some appetizers This is pickled plum Now that I’ve finished the snacks, I’ll have some mochi It’s a Shizuoka specialty called “Abegawa Mochi” There were two flavors: kinako and bean paste A traditional, deep flavour Next, this is the first main dish Sakura shrimp seasoned in three different ways Both sweet and salty flavors can be enjoyed This is the second dish “Unagi-ju” It’s a type of eel The set also comes with soup The scent is very nice Pickles were also included Made with 6 different colorful vegetables I also ordered some alcohol to fully enjoy lunch I chose Kikuzui, a Japanese alcohol from Aoshima Brewery Let’s enjoy the eel with this alcohol made of rice The eel was thick, plump and juicy It was a very satisfying lunch Because the tracks are elevated, you can enjoy panoramic views The scenery is gradually becoming greener The train is passing through the suburbs, surrounded by nature We’ll soon enter a tunnel t’s dark outside, so the train window is reflecting inside The number of buildings has started to thin out If you look closely, you can see the tea
fields. The train will soon make a stop The train has stopped, so let’s get out The refined design lives up to the name “Royal Express” Many people seem to take photos of trains here The train has started to move again I brought some matcha and fruits The fruit I bought is a melon It was a bite-sized, very sweet melon Matcha and melon actually go really well together The train appears to be approaching the downtown area We’re currently passing through Hamamatsu Station After leaving the station, the train sped up Lake Hamanako, a large lake, will soon come into view We pass through residential areas Lake Hamanako has come into view It’s a large lake in central Japan The scenery from the train window looks
like a framed painting We still have a long way to go across Lake Hamanako There are many stick-like things sticking
out of the lake surface Are they farming fish here? After crossing the lake,
the train stops at Araimachi Station Today’s train journey ends here From here, we’ll travel by bus, just like yesterday I’m now on the bus Before going to the hotel, we’ll stop
at one tourist spot It’s time to say goodbye to the Royal Express once again Goodbye for now Our first destination is the historic site of Arai Barrier We’ve arrived at Arai Barrier Now let’s check out this historical site This is the “Arai Barrier” There are still some impressive stone walls remaining They are stacked neatly without any gaps These stone walls have a history spanning hundreds of years The stone walls were deeper than I expected The big pine tree stands out A long freight train passes by the site This historic building has stood for 200 years since the Edo period It is a very historic and valuable cultural heritage There are dolls that resemble government officials from the Edo period It feels like stepping back into the Edo period This is the right side of the building This is the main entrance to the checkpoint I’ve returned to the bus We pass by the Oomimon Gate We will next stop at the hotel We pass by the west shore of Lake Hamanako The sky is beautifully illuminated by the setting sun We’ve arrived at the hotel for today Today we’ll stay at “Resort& Spa Hamanako” I came to out room This is today’s room A view of Lake Hamanako can be enjoyed Let’s relax for a bit until dinner It’s time for dinner Let’s check out the menu This is the dinner menu The high ceiling creates a sense of openness The windows are also very large This is the first dish This dish uses bluefin tuna It’s a dish that looks like a red jewel Next up is a dish using foie gras Foie gras on top of daikon radish The third dish is “Sweet potato potage” Next up is f It’s served with Southern French-style stewed vegetables This is a sherbet-like frozen dessert The sixth dish is beef loin The loin is cooked at low heat It goes really well with balsamic sauce Dinner ends with this dessert After dinner, I returned to my room It’s a little early, but Good Night Good Morning Let’s take a morning shower Let’s go have breakfast right away Today is the morning of the day 3 This is today’s breakfast venue I found a seat with a beautiful view of the whole lake This is today’s Japanese breakfast The main dish is grilled fish I checked out from the hotel First, we will travel by bus The seats on this bus are also spacious Lake Hamanako is visible again today We will drive along the lake for a while We’ve arrived at Hamamatsu Station I got off the bus so let’s back to the train The car body shines in the sunlight The train is now departing Hamamatsu Station Suddenly the weather was pretty clear A Shinkansen passed right next to our train Let’s sit and enjoy the view for a while This car is almost completely private It’s almost time for lunch Today’s lunch is sushi The first dish is Spanish mackerel and alfonsino nigiri Passing through tea fields The next dish on the menu is soup Let’s enjoy the scenery while waiting for the next dish The train runs next to the river The train curves along the river This is the next dish Red tuna and tuna nigiri sushi A larger river appeared after traveling a bit farther The train speeds across the river This is the next dish It looks like a dish made with alfonsino It goes very well with the sauce I also ordered a beer Apparently, this is Japan’s first luxury beer I’ll enjoy it alongside the meal The next dish is here It’s a dish called baked fish pie Fish and vegetables wrapped in a pie The next dish is of course sushi This is horse mackerel sushi And this is Tai nigiri. This concludes today’s lunch Let’s enjoy the dessert after the meal I ordered chocolate It contains four types of chocolate Residential areas pass by outside the window I finished my meal so I moved seats The train moves slowly through residential areas for a while Here as well, Mount Fuji could be seen in the distance We’re approaching a slight curve This time, Mount Fuji is visible in front of us We will drive straight towards Mount Fuji It’s a rare sight that you don’t often get to see We’ve arrived at Shizuoka Station This concludes today’s train journey From here, we will transfer to a bus I quickly got on the bus Tonight we will be staying at a hotel in Nihondaira According to the sign, Nihon-daira is 9 km away The climb begins by bus It’s a mountain road so there are lots of curves Finally we‘ve arrived at the hotel It’s a hotel with a beautifully patterned exterior I’ve come to my room for the night This is today’s room It’s the perfect location to enjoy the spectacular view Let’s zoom in to take a look at the view I spotted a very large cargo ship The air is clear, so I can see the cityscape beyond the bay The beautiful mountains of the Izu Peninsula It’s really the best location I came to the lobby You can see Mt. Fuji from here too The hotel lobby offers a spectacular panoramic view Let’s head out towards a nearby observation deck The sun is gradually setting Let’s walk for a few minutes The observation deck came into view It’s an interesting shaped building We’ve arrived at the observation deck The orange sky is beautiful Before I knew it, it was already dusk The whole city is illuminated by the sun There was a tourist parking lot below the observation deck The Royal Express bus also stopped there Mount Fuji is also visible to the right It is an observation deck with a spectacular view I got back to the hotel before sunset Let’s watch the sunset as Mount Fuji is illuminated in red Now it’s time for dinner The venue is already ready I’m already starving This is today’s menu This is today’s first dish It is a dish topped with sea urchin. As I enjoyed dinner, it began to get dark outside Next, this is the second dish Red sea bream and vegetable dish The third dish is lobster cream soup The fourth dish is “steamed flounder and scallops” The scallops are very big It was a perfect match with the sauce The fifth dish is warm roasted beef sirloin Let’s enjoy the dinner while listening to live music The violin sound was very beautiful Finally, milk gelato for dessert This concludes today’s dinner I’ve returned to my room A beautiful night view unfolds I’ll take a good rest in preparation for tomorrow Good Night Good Morning Finally, the fourth and final day has started Clouds are spreading, but the weather looks good Let’s get ready for breakfast Amenities are plentiful A fluffy bath towel This is the venue for breakfast I was guided to a seat near the window It’s a great location The food has arrived First, let’s remove all the lids Today’s breakfast is based on Japanese food It was a luxurious breakfast After finishing our meal, we came back to Shizuoka Station Let’s wait for the Royal Express to arrive Looks like it’ll be arriving soon The trains has come into view It’s glowing blue again today The train slowly enters the platform I’ve boarded the train We’ll soon be saying goodbye to Shizuoka Station I’ve moved to the front of the train The final day of the Royal Express journey begins First, let’s enjoy the scenery from the front I found a sofa inside the train A soft, luxury sofa. The sky is getting a little cloudy I ordered ice cream It’s a ice cream from a famous store This is a pamphlet from the store It had a rich, deep flavor I also ordered a drink Green tea and orange juice Let’s enjoy the view again It seems the train is running alongside a highway We also pass under a road The train runs parallel to the road for a while I came to the rear car I have this train car almost entirely to myself We’ve stopped again for a bit Looking out the window, it was quite sunny It seems we’ll be stopping longer than expected Let’s move to the front It looks like disembarking isn’t allowed here Let’s move to car number 3 Something is on display It seems to be geta, a Japanese shoe It looks like a craft called Suruga-nuri geta It is beautiful with a variety of colorful patterns Finally the train started moving again Mount Fuji is hidden by clouds today. The weather has cleared up before I knew it Let’s move to the front car again It’s hard to balance while riding We have reached the front of car number 4 We passing over a bridge again The station staff waved at us Thank you very much for your service It’s almost time for the last lunch Here is today’s menu Salmon, steak, crab, etc. This is the first dish A variety of bite-sized dishes to enjoy in one bite This is “Yamatoimo Salmon Roll” All the dishes look beautiful This is “lotus root and cod roe sashimi” Next is the second dish This dish is called “Taguri Yuba Sashimi” It’s like a salad The third dish is Wagyu beef steak It has a colorful appearance The sauce was a perfect match with the steak Next is the fourth dish This is chawanmushi Looking out the window, the cityscape stretched out below The fifth dish was porridge I finished lunch We enter a tunnel again It’s as dark at night I moved to the front car A freight train passes by us It seems we’re in a very long tunnel I still can’t see the exit of the tunnel Finally, the light is coming Finally, I came out of the tunnel The sky feels so bright Looking ahead, I saw another tunnel. On the right, you can enjoy a view of the ocean We’re in the tunnel again But it was a relatively short tunnel You can see the cityscape of Atami Atami is a resort city famous for its hot springs We’ve returned to Atami Station We stop here for a few minutes We immediately took off More and more large buildings come into view It’s time to say goodbye to Atami We went through the tunnel again As the train curves, the cars behind come into view I’m getting a little hungry I ordered tea and sweets This is the last meal of the trip The scenery has changed quite a bit It’s a cute looking Japanese sweet Let’s divide into 4 equal parts It was so delicious that I bought a box as a souvenir Mount Fuji is faintly visible We’ve entered Kanagawa Prefecture This train journey will soon come to an end We are gradually approaching Yokohama Station The cityscape is spreading out We’ve arrived at Yokohama Station The journey ends at this station This marks the end of our 4 Day Trip Let’s take one last look at the train It was a very fulfilling 4 days trip Thanks for watching!
