Of course, we’re going to have to try some of the food. So, here at the marketplace, the Universal Marketplace right here, there is a bunch of Christmas food. So, we’re going to try it. Okay, so you saw I was meeting them in front of like the food trucks and stuff like that. They’re normally not there. This is just for the press that they’re doing. You can meet them in their costumes over in Universal Wonderland. So, what you just saw today, that was just for this So, Universal Wonderland, just remember that. Now, let’s get eating. This smells absolutely divine. This is a basically a pepperoni pizza soup with some bread. And we have Elmo in here. So adorable. And I love the packaging on this. It smells kind of spicy. Ooh, look at that. M. Oh, this is very different. But I’m not complaining. I didn’t think pizza and soup would go together, but this this is working me out. The fkaca bread is nice and fluffy and soft, and it works perfectly well with dipping into this. Oh, we even got a tomato. We even have some vegetables in there, too. Like, this is delicious. M I’m going to give this a four. I think what would have brought this to a five if there was maybe a little bit more pepperoni and a copious amount of cheese. I wish it was more cheese. This is really tasty and nice and warm, especially on those cold nights. We have a Snoopy premium hot dog here with cheese and meat sauce. And I love the little cheese on top that looks like his paw. That is a nice little detail. And the packaging is as always adorable. Now, these hot dogs are always delicious. They always do a good job with the hot dogs. It looks like there’s an copious amount of cheese on this. We’ll see how it is. The bun is nice and flaky, as you can see. So, it’s not like a soft bun that you, you know, a typical hot dog would come in. So, it’s it’s a little bit chewier, which is a nice little touch. I’m just trying to get to the hot dog, man. Oops. I was trying to get a full bite of everything because, you know, some people just take like the first bite and they give an instant reaction. No, no, no. I want to eat my way through it so I can get all the flavors cuz usually the first bite is not indicative of how it’s actually going to taste. So, that’s why I just dove right in there and got it all over my face. The meat sauce, it’s fine. It’s there. You can taste it. Maybe more more seasoning. I’m very much a seasoning person, but there is a copious amount of cheese which topnotch. And the sausage, it’s a hot dog sausage. Very juicy, nice and flavored. It’s always good. They use the same one all the time. So, this is really good. This is good for a snack. Like, if you don’t want a full meal, this will definitely fill you up. I’m giving this a four. This is a four. I have to say one more thing about the hot dog because we’re swapping out the food here. The aftertaste of the meat sauce is actually really good. Yeah, I had to let it simmer a little bit on my taste buds. There’s There’s more flavor in it after I let it sit there for a while. So, you know what? We’re going to change that four to a 4 and 1/2. That’s what we’re going to do with that one. But now it’s time for dessert. We’re having dessert. Okay, here we have the Dolce Choritos apple pie. And it’s Hello Kitty themed. I was going to say Hello Kitty flavored. Hello Kitty themed. I mean, maybe Hello Kitty tastes like apple pie. I don’t know. The packaging adorable. And the presentation is always really nice with these churros. They put a lot of toppings on it and you can definitely taste, not taste, smell the apple pie. It is very cinnamon, very apple, very festive. I need to rinse my mouth because I can taste that meat sauce still. I don’t want it to interfere with the apple pie. This is my life, everybody. And I’m very grateful. Trust me. This is I always have a lot of fun. I always feel like I’m going to play a flute when I’m doing this. You’re probably thinking, Chris, is that good or bad? I’m going to say something uncou, unconventional, unheard of. This is delicious. Now, the churro itself is just a vessel for the flavor explosion that’s happening in your mouth. It tastes like an apple pie. It tastes like I’m eating a crunchy apple pie. If it was just a churro by itself, it wouldn’t be good. It’s all the toppings on top of it. You know how I feel about churros. I’m always like very on the the end that doesn’t like them. I would buy this again. Is this a five? No, it’s it’s not a five. I’m not going to give it a five. We’re we’re we’re not going to go that insane. Okay. No, no, no, no, no, no. I didn’t lose my mind. This is a three and a half. I would give it a four if the maybe the churo was maybe a little more little softer. But overall though, this is a really good churro. Uh at the Hello Kitty store, they have these very pink and fluorescent Christmas trees outside. As always, the Beverly Hills Bellagerie has Christmas desserts. We’re not going to be eating them today, but I wanted to show them to you. So, Christmas parfait, berry and pistachio, chocolate mousse, and orange cardamom, and a Santa Claus caramel and raspberry. This one actually sounds really nice. I’m eating way too much food today, so I don’t want to overdo it. But please come and try try these because they always have really high quality desserts. At the Mario Cafe, they have the pudding alamo drinks back for the winter time. So, it’s not tied to Christmas, but more to winter. And these are good. Get them. I’ve had them before. And it’s fuzzy, so it’s going to be very warm. 400 yen. So this is child children’s sizes, I guess, cuz Yeah, they’re in centimeters. So I guess it’s children’s sizes. Oh, this I love. This is like This would be perfect to go under your Christmas tree. I think that would be absolutely perfect. We have not seen this. It is very nice. 38,900 yen. Yes, I did some shopping. I just got one little thing this year. I got a little MPY. This is going to go on my Christmas tree. This is perfect. Look how cute they are. It’s so cute. So cute. We love MPY. MPY, we love you so much. You’re going to look so good on my Christmas tree. I think it’s time for some more festive food. Don’t you? I’m a little hungry. Merry Christmas. He just said Merry Christmas. So, here at the Studio Stars restaurant, they have the food festival, the Universal Christmas Food Festival. We’re going to be trying all of these today. Look at these. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum. There’s even desserts. Cute. We love a Christmas tree. And on the sides here, you can see Snoopy and Hello Kitty. Oh, and here we have Elmo looking so adorable as always. The first thing that we’re having here is this seafood pot pie themed to Hello Kitty. And there’s also this really cute dessert that is apples and yogurt. It smells really nice. The presentation this on this is cute. And there’s a little apple little apple pastry. You got some pasta on there that looks like ribbons. And I love the top of the pot pie has hearts on it. So come in. We’re going to open this together. Oh, okay. Very flaky. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh, it’s piping hot. Inside is scallops and shrimp. And you can definitely taste the scallops, which are quite lovely. I want to know what this little apple is. It’s ketchup on the bottom. What is this? I think it’s cheese. Nice and hardy and it warms you to your soul. That’s what you want when it’s cold outside in Christmas time. That is what you want. I’d love a chowder. A seafood chowder. Give it to me any day. Preferably when it’s cold. You probably know what I’m going to say already. It It needs some more seasoning. I think some salt and pepper on it would have been nice and maybe some more dressing on the salad. Just there’s just a just a little bit. However, though, I’m going to give this a four. The pastry is nice and flaky, and the clam chowder is great. This is the Hello Kitty white Christmas tree cake, which is yogurt flavored and apples. I mean, you can’t have Hello Kitty without apples. That would be an atrocity if you don’t have anything apples to do with Hello Kitty because you know what? She is five apples tall. And she’s not a cat. She’s a girl. She’s a woman. Okay, let’s dig into this. Ooh. I do love me anything with apples in it. There’s cinnamon on it. I wonder what the crumble is on the back here. It’s like a really soft shortbread. I think it also has a little Hello Kitty marshmallow on the top, which I think is a nice touch. Overall, you don’t really taste the yogurt. It’s quite overpowered by the apple. I’m not mad at it. And there’s also a sponge cake on the bottom. It’s not as flavorful as I hoped. I was hoping the yogurt would be a little more more flavorful. But it’s a very mild dessert, not very sweet. So if you want something on the milder side, get this. And if you like apples, I love apples. I would get this again. It’s just a little maybe a little mild for my personal taste. This is a three and a half. Next up, we have this Elmo pulled pork barbecue burger. And it looks delicious. I love the curly fries on here. And there’s popcorn in there. Very, I guess, festive, fun. And there’s some cheese sauce in there. And there’s also there’s some letters on the plate, which I think is really cute cuz you know Elmo’s what, five and a half? I think that’s what he says. He says he’s five and a half. Children are funny. And it also comes with this sleeve so you don’t get your fingers all dirty and it’s nicely themed. Take it out and we’re gonna put it in the sleeve somehow. Okay, so that’s what it looks like inside there. There looks like the pulled pork and we got some veggies in there and there’s a tomato. I love that they put vegetables in a lot of these things. Oh, and the pul pork look like looks like it’s seasoned. Oh, I think there’s roast beef on this, too. Or pushida or something. M. This is wonderful. It is perfectly seasoned. And yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s pushcuto on there. There’s pepper on there, like little pepperc corns. Excellent. The bun is nice and soft. And the sauce in there is delicious with the pulled pork. I just realized the letters are H and C on there. My guess it means happy Christmas. That’s what I’m going to say. Or happy Chris cuz that’s me right now. I’m going to eat the popcorn with the cheese sauce. This is a five. That’s all I’m going to say. This is a five. Get this one. For dessert, we have this pistachio and caramel Christmas wreath cake with Elmo on it. How adorable is that? How adorable? And look at the little presents on there. That is so cute. And I love that there’s Are these candied? Oh, they have like liquid sugar on them or something. Presentation’s topnotch with this. Okay, let’s let’s give this a try. Oh, it is it is soft. Look at look at that. Look at it. This is delicious. The pistachio cream is mild, but you can still taste it. It’s nice and creamy. So, so it’s not too much is what I’m trying to say. The cake is nice and soft and moist. Caramel is a little subtle. I don’t taste it. At least I can’t find it. Overall though, this is absolutely divine. It’s a four and a half. I would have gave it a full five if I could have tasted the caramel a little bit more. It’s still a great dessert, though. We’re not done eating yet. We have a Snoopy themed meal to have. And this is the roasted chicken with demiglaze sauce and berry sauce. And look at this presentation. It is adorable. You got a little Snoopy on there, too. And I love the little bone like puff pastry. I think that’s fun. There’s a tart on here, salad, some vegetables. I can’t get over how well presented this is. First, I want to try this tart. See what this tart is. Inside the tart here, looks like it’s meat and potatoes. Yes, you can see the meat and potatoes inside there. Get some of the salad in there. Get some of that cranberry. Cranberry berry sauce. We’ll find out what kind of berry it is. It just says berry sauce. Ooh. Ooh. So, for those that don’t know, in Japan for Christmas time, you have roasted chicken. That is like a thing that you do. Everyone gets roasted chicken from everywhere. Every restaurant, every grocery store does a roasted chicken for Christmas, so this makes perfect sense. Let’s give this a try. This is delicious as well. The skin nice and seasoned. Thank you. And the demiglaze sauce is nice and sweet. And I love it paired with the berry sauce. Can’t tell what the berry is. It’s not just straight up cranberry. It’s I think it’s a mixture of berries. This is This is delicious. This is nice and tender. Oo. So, if you don’t want the pulled pork burger, get this. I need to know what this puff pastry tastes like. Look at that. It’s very powdery. It’s just a puff pastry. doesn’t taste like anything. There’s also some roasted potatoes on here too behind the chicken. I’m giving this a four and a half. Not quite a five like the Elmo pulled pork burger, but this is a really delicious meal. How adorable is this Snoopy dessert? It is a Christmas cake that is chocolate and chestnut and it looks like his house. It looks like Snoopy’s house. And he’s just he’s just chilling there. That’s all he ever does. Well, I shouldn’t say that. He doesn’t He’s a multifaceted dog that has been with us for very many years. So, you know what? He deserves the rest. This is so well put together. And it looks like a Christmas log. Like, how clever is that? Look on the inside. Ooh. It’s a nice milk chocolate. Trying to get the chestnut. The chestnut looks like it’s in the middle here. Chestnut is used in a lot of desserts in Japan as well. So, this makes sense. Not very sweet. It is cute as all Christmas. And the chestnut is the right amount. This is a five. An absolute five. So, out of everything here, I think, sorry, Hello Kitty, I love your girl. I love a clam chowder. But if I was to pick one, I I would go with the Elmo, the Elmo pulled pork burger. And I I can choose between the the Elmo Christmas cake or the Snoopy Christmas cake. Get both. Why not? It’s Christmas. And if you don’t want pulled pork, get the chicken. The chicken is delicious. I am constantly amazed at how well thought out the food is here at Universal Studio Japan. And no, I’m not just saying that because we’re here being provided the food. I’m I give you my honest opinions all the time. And I am just continually impressed. So good. Let’s go walk off all the calories I just ate. They have a new nighttime show before Christmas. Light up the night. Christmas celebration. So, it’s starting right away and I cannot wait. You know, if you don’t open your eyes, you’re going to miss everything. She practically ran. Wait, where is everyone? Are we guys looking good? Oh my goodness. Wow, that’s a lot of play. Yeah. Come on now. Yeah. The beauty of a la I tell of you I treasure. You know this is so crazy. Come on out everyone. It’s time to play. Hey guys. Sleigh bells ring. Are you listening? Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way. Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh. Hey. Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way. Oh, what fun is in one open sleigh. It’s a very Christmas. That show was vastly different than what we’ve had the last few years. Last few years has been DJ Frosty where it’s this big dance party with a snowman that has, you know, snowman head and everything. I love that so much. This was a complete 180. kind of went back to traditional Christmas cuz years before like this was prior to 2020 they would do these big grandos stage shows with pyro and everything and very traditional Christmas like what you’re thinking about Christmas that’s what they were doing now this is um not as grand as the those Christmas shows I was just telling you about uh this is more I guess like a little more playful very traditional Christmas. Um, I much prefer DJ Frosty. I’m going to be completely honest. Not that the show was bad. It wasn’t bad. It’s just for me, I I for Universal, I kind of expect like things to be different, right? Like things I’m not going to find anywhere else. I feel like for that show in particular, I could go to a different part like not not just a theme park, but anywhere else and see a similar type of show. I want something that’s very different, very like out there like DJ Frosty. With all that said though, I did like seeing the characters. The costumes are really fun and they did have some Pyro in there at the end and it does give you that Christmas feel. So, if you’re looking for something like that, then yeah, definitely check out the show. But if you’re expecting something like the DJ Frosty show we had the last three years, it’s definitely not that. And on that note, it’s time for dinner. If you want to have a nice, special, and quiet dinner here at University of Japan for the Christmas season, I recommend the Parkside Grill. It is very peaceful and calm compared to all the other restaurants in this park, except for Sino. Side is also very good as well. Here we are having the Christmas course menu, and it looks delicious. I am really excited to try all of this. And Parkside Grill is always a good choice. They have other menu items as well. And if you don’t want to get the course menu, they have other stakes and things like that. This is a really great date spot. And getting a reservation is easy. You just walk up. That’s all you got to do. You can come and just see if there’s walkups available. There usually is. or you can come in uh later or during the day at any point and just ask for a reservation at a certain time if you have something in mind. Now, the course menu here in particular is after 5:00. So, just keep that in mind, but they’re open for other stuff as well. So, let’s get to eating. Well, this is not part of the course. We are trying this berry Christmas soda. And this is a non-alcoholic beverage. There is an alcoholic one, but it’s a different flavor. I opted for this one. It is very pretty, very seasonal. Giving it a good stir. Look at that color change. We love it. We love it. That was the mint. That is nicely refreshing and tastes quite fresh, especially with the blueberries on the bottom. M. A, that’s nice. Feels very elevated, very elegant, very adult. This is great. I’m going to give this a four. Now, it’s for the course. Always use the oshiburi, as it’s called, to wipe off your hands, which is what you do in Japan. I’m so used to it now. Like when I go home to Canada and stuff and go to a restaurant and I’m not giving oshi, I feel I don’t feel right. We’re starting off with an appetizer which is the cauliflower mousse and consume jelly. And there’s also scallops in here and snow crab. This looks delicious and I love the presentation. Very elevated, right? It’s a lot different than eating a a pizza soup with Elmo’s face by the water. I love the juxosition of all the different types of experiences you can have here at the park. It’s really lovely. You know what? We’re going to start with this because it’s easy. I think this is like a balsamic a balsamic something or other down here. Looks like we got some vegetables of some sort. Dip it into the the vinegarette dressing here. And now for the snow crab. Snow crab and scallops with the jelly. Oh, there’s some flowers in here. And there’s a cream sauce as well. It’s cold, too. Oh, that’s really lovely. Now, it’s time for the next course. The next course is a grilled sea ring and lobster. Look at that. And there’s also ravioli in here. And there’s also a lobster consume. So fancy. It’s got the sauce on there. Ooh, sauce. Who doesn’t love a sauce? Let’s cut into the sea sea bream. Nice and light. The flavors are all just kind of dancing with each other in this. I really love that. And the cream is not too creamy cuz you know, sometimes you can have cream that’s just like too thick. No, this is the right consistency. And the fish is perfect. This is not something I would typically choose. You know, I’m not a seafood person. We know this. You’ve been watching this channel. You know this. But this is very lovely. I want more of it. I wish it was maybe one more ravioli. There was just one thing of ravioli that I could see. Yeah, maybe just one more. Just throw it a little extra one. Now it’s time for the main course. We’re having the grilled Angus beef here with truffle scented potatoes and also fogwa which uh looks divine. I love the presentation. And look at the little daicon radish that’s made into a snowflake. I think that’s really cute. This beef smells delicious. Oh yes. Some of that sauce in there. Mhm. Mhm. I believe it’s a red wine sauce. This is quite lovely. Now, I don’t know how to eat the this in particular. We’ll just break it. It’s shooting everywhere. So, the fogwa is surrounded by the truffle scented potatoes that is melting in my mouth right now. It is really good. Now, I’m not a connoisseur when it comes to fogwa. I have not had it. I don’t think I’ve ever had it to be quite honest with you, but it is delicious. It’s It just melts in your mouth. The presentation with the pastry on the outside is absolutely divine. I’m really enjoying this. As you may can tell, this is my happy tummy dance. So, we’re having dessert now. So, this is the Mount Lamar Nougat of Honey, Fruit, and Nuts. And at first, I thought it was ice cream when it came out, and I thought, “Oh my goodness, we’re going to need to eat this quickly cuz it’s going to melt.” No, no, no. It’s not. It’s not ice cream. No, not at all. The presentation’s very pretty on this. Look at that. Ooh. Inside there. Love it. This is really nice. Oh man, presentation is topnotch. And this dessert is wonderful. I’m happy that they didn’t go with the ice cream route cuz you can, you know, most places do that. This is not ice cream. And I am very happy. To finish off the meal, you can get tea or coffee. I decided to get some coffee. I’m put in some creamer inside there. Not going to put sugar. I’m going to omit the sugar. Had enough of that today. Don’t need any more of that. Christopher, you’re not 21 anymore. Can’t have that much sugar. Oh, that’s perfect. Overall, this meal very festive, delicious. The whole thing was wonderful. The presentation, the flavors. I know I’ve said this in the past, when when we’ve eaten here, having these kind of course meals, it just always blows my mind that we can have this kind of experience here at Universal Studios Japan. What I would recommend if you’re doing like two days at the park or maybe a day and a half, come here for dinner just to kind of reset, soak it all in and just kind of, you know, remind yourself to take it slow sometimes cuz it’s okay. You don’t have to do everything. Even though maybe I I make it look like you should. I’m here just to showcase everything so you can kind of pick the things that you want to do from eating Elmo to having a Snoopy hot dog to here having some fogwa. There’s a lot of choices here. It comes at no surprise, but I am giving this meal a five out of five. Excellent. Oh, the music. I love it. Right in front of the Spy Family attraction, we have this new installation. It’s called Green Street Illumination. And what’s special about all this? This is all powered by biodiesel. Meaning the restaurants, all their oil in the park used to power these. So the French fries I ate today, the 20 lbs of them of that I ate or whatever it was are helping power these beautiful trees. I love that.
