The first permanent outdoor park themed on the Pokemon franchise will open in western Tokyo on Feb. 5, offering visitors a lush forest filled with monsters and other attractions.
PokePark Kanto will cover about 2.6 hectares inside the Yomiuriland amusement park straddling the western Tokyo city of Inagi and Kawasaki in Kanagawa Prefecture, according to Yomiuriland and The Yomiuri Shimbun’s Tokyo headquarters.
The Pokemon Forest offers a 500-meter-long walking trail, where strollers can spot Pokemon characters. Sedge Town is advertised as a bustling place where trainers from around the world can meet and forge new friendships.
For entry to PokePark Kanto between Feb. 5 and March 31, two types of tickets will be sold via lottery from 6 p.m. on Nov. 21 to Dec. 8 at the official website (https://www.pokepark-kanto.co.jp).
The Ace Trainer’s Pass, which allows entry to the Pokemon Forest and Sedge Town areas at any desired time, will be priced from 14,000 yen ($91.30) for visitors aged 13 or older and 11,000 yen for children aged 3 or older.
The Trainer’s Pass, which grants one entry to the Pokemon Forest during a designated time slot and unlimited entry to Sedge Town, will cost from 7,900 yen for visitors aged 13 or older and 4,700 yen for children aged 3 or older.
In or around summer next year, the Town Pass, which permits access only to Sedge Town, will be available for 4,700 yen for visitors aged 13 or older and 2,800 yen for children aged 3 or older.
All the three tickets will include admission to Yomiuriland.
Children under 5 years old and certain other guests will be restricted from entry to the Pokemon Forest because there are stairs and steep slopes in the area.
PokePark Kanto will be run by PokePark Kanto LLC, which was founded by Yomiuriland, The Yomiuri Shimbun’s Tokyo headquarters and Pokemon Co. based in Tokyo.
