Train Sim World 6’s first Japanese railway route the Tadami Line was announced all the way back for Train Sim World 4, so there are certainly criticisms that can be levelled at dev Dovetail and its partner Union Workshop for taking this long to get the content out.
But this teaser trailer does confirm the content is coming together at last, and it looks like one of the more exciting routes to be added to the game in some time.
While we appreciate there’s probably plenty of data backing up the maker’s decision to double-down on routes in the UK, USA, and Germany, we reckon so much of the release’s appeal is digital tourism, so it’s great to see this rural route getting closer to release.
The Tadami Line connects Fukushima to Nagata, from the eastern side of Japan to the west coast. It’s a beautiful journey through woodland and gorgeous rural scenery.
We’re a little bit concerned about the framerate in this trailer, but it’s still a work in progress and optimisation usually comes last. If nothing else, the vibes are great.
Obviously, there are already a number of Japanese rail sims available from devs like Sonic Powered, but they usually rely on FMV footage so don’t have the same kind of gameplay feel as Train Sim World 6.
There’s still no release date attached to this, but we’re really hoping it’s not too far away now.
