On the 2nd, Nippon-Ham announced that they had reached an agreement with player Haruki Nishikawa to join the team.
Nishikawa said through the team, “When I was told that I was out of the lineup from The Swallows, I thought that if I was going to play baseball for the last time, I would only play The Fighters. Nishikawa joined Nippon-Ham as the second pick in the 2010 draft, and established himself in the first team in his second year in 2012. In 2014, he played in every game and won stolen base base title. In 2016, when the team won the league championship and became the best hitter, recording a batting average of .314, 5 Home Run, 43 RBI, and 41 stolen base.
He led The Fighters for many years, winning stolen base title in 2017, 2018, and 2021, being named to the Best Nine in 2016 and 2017, and winning the Golden Glove Award for four consecutive years from 2017, but left the team in the off-season of 2021 after winning stolen base title for the third time.
He played for Rakuten for two years from 2010 and for Yakult from 2012. He played 49 games this season, struggled with a .174 batting average, and was notified at the end of the season that he was out of the lineup. Nishikawa will be returning to Nippon-Ham for the first time in five years, since 2009.
