7-Eleven has expanded its fresh food lineup with the rollout of a Japanese-style egg salad sandwich, bringing a longtime customer favorite from its Japanese stores to participating U.S. locations.

The sandwich, known for its smooth texture and signature creamy flavor profile, has gained international attention as a viral sensation in the Japanese convenience-store market. It is now available nationwide at select 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes stores. The launch reflects the retailer’s ongoing strategy to diversify its ready-to-eat offerings and tap into global food trends that resonate with American consumers.

The sandwich is made with soft and fluffy milk bread and rich and creamy egg salad crafted with Kewpie Mayonnaise, Japan’s original egg yolk-only mayo known for its umami-packed flavor, 7-Eleven said. The sandwich, known as the “tamago sando,”  is equal parts comfort food and culinary icon, the Irving, Texas-based convenience-store chain said.

“The egg salad sandwich has long been a favorite item in 7-Eleven stores across Japan, and we’re excited to introduce a version for customers in the U.S. inspired by its beloved flavor,” said Brandon Brown, senior vice president of fresh foods at 7-Eleven. “Fans across the country can now enjoy the new Japanese-style egg salad sandwich and experience a take on one of our most popular international offerings that has captured hearts and appetites around the world.”
