Within Tokyo’s vibrant heart lies a world of wonder and excitement. If Tokyo Dome can be described as an egg, the surrounding Tokyo Dome City is its nest, a home for unforgettable experiences, wondrous sights and enchanting activities for all ages. Thrill-seekers can sate their appetite for excitement on the Thunder Dolphin, while those in the mood for serenity can relax in LaQua’s natural hot springs.

Tokyo Dome Corporation president Tsutomu Nagaoka wants the park to be a place that grows with people, where they can make memories throughout their lives, where each time they return, there are experiences tailored to their interests. “We aim to build a place that appeals to every generation and, in doing so, help revitalize the surrounding area while reaching a broad and diverse audience.”

A uniquely imaginative entertainment district

Tokyo Dome City hosts a broad variety of activities, including an amusement park, LaQua spa complex, event and exhibition spaces that host functions, art installations and virtual reality experiences, a variety of public sports facilities and shopping and dining.

With the stadium playing host to incredible international events like performances from some of the world’s most recognizable stars and MLB games featuring Japanese legend Shohei Ohtani, Nagaoka says the company is making a push to attract foreign visitors. Citing the recent MLB games, the company saw its social media following jump by 10,000 followers after it targeted inbound tourists. With a diverse collection of visual content on its social media pages, Tokyo Dome City showcases its diverse facilities, activities, and the people who visit them. Seeing this account helps people understand just how unique Tokyo Dome City is on a global scale.

XR Experience

Leading the development and implementation of high-tech attractions

The city is leveraging an innovative digital strategy to integrate virtual reality (VR), mixed reality and extended reality (XR). It has hosted a series of themed events, which it has dubbed enXross, around integrating cutting-edge technologies such as blockchain, and the third edition in September 2025 is themed around AI, XR and web3. Nagaoka believes the event has truly become international. “During the first two editions, we had participants from institutions like Stanford University, so we’re seeing it evolve into a truly global event—and we hope to continue that momentum this year,” he says.

This year, the company plans to open a co-working space called enXross DAO for startups participating in this year’s event. “Ultimately, our goal is to host enXross annually and develop Tokyo Dome City into a research and development hub for Web3-related technologies,” the president states.

Another innovative attraction Tokyo Dome City offers is Space Travelium TeNQ. Upon entering, visitors are welcomed by the Space Terminal, where sensory-rich exhibits allow you to see and touch fragments of meteorites from the Moon and Mars. This immersive experience leverages VR, enabling guests to embark on a virtual trip to the moon in a free-roaming environment. The experience provides a series of out-of-this-world encounters, such as viewing an eclipse from the perspective of the moon.

While the city continues to innovate, its rich history can’t be overlooked. Tokyo Dome City was home to one of the first roller coasters in Japan. It has also played host to international musical sensations such as Michael Jackson and sporting events like the NFL.

TOKYO DOME HOTEL

A space for everyone

A key focus throughout its development has been accessibility. Tokyo Dome City aspires to be a place everyone can enjoy, regardless of age, gender or nationality. To make the experience smoother for international guests, the company has introduced multilingual screens within the stadium and the city. “When international guests visit any of our facilities, they should be able to easily understand event details and navigate the venue,” Nagaoka says. It has also established a department dedicated to inbound tourism and works with international partners to understand the experience from an outside perspective.

The company has also expanded into regional offerings. It operates the Atami Bay Resort Korakuen, which includes a hotel and other attractions, including its popular Ocean Spa Fuua. “We see significant potential for further development through renovations and broader urban improvement,” Nagaoka states.

While the attractions may evolve, the welcoming atmosphere will endure into the future. A child today enjoying a VR experience will, in the future, be able to look back fondly as they watch their children enjoy a cutting-edge attraction in Tokyo Dome City.
