The space that has operated as an arcade under various well-known brands, including Genda and Sega, since 1992, is now home to Silk Hat Akihabara, Matahari Entertainment’s chain of Japanese amusement arcades.

Silk Hat said that the store has been loved by many game fans in Akihabara for 33 years and that the company aims to be a fun place where game centre fans from the past Sega era and people who love Akihabara today can gather.

Spanning a total of nine floors with 1,692sq.m of total floor space, the new amusement arcade is home to a range of games, including crane games, music games, card games, video games and darts.

Four of the nine floors will be occupied by crane games and will include a space dedicated to taking photos that it says will allow players to share their prizes on social media.

The venue held its grand opening on November 21.
