some of the most beautiful lights in Japan. Enjoy your December in Japan. December marks the true beginning of winter across Japan. If you’re heading to the northern regions, you’ll want to be extra careful — this is when the first snow of the season starts to fall. In most other parts of Japan,
snow is still pretty rare in December. If you’re planning to visit northern Japan, make sure to check the important tips
in this video before you go. Let’s start with Tokyo. In December,
the city is completely wrapped in light. No matter where you go, you’ll find
beautiful winter scenes shining all around. TOKYO MIDTOWN CHRISTMAS 2025 Roppongi, Tokyo
November 13 – December 25 The lawn area at Tokyo Midtown glows
with blue and white lights, creating one of the city’s most iconic winter sights. The synchronized light-and-music
show is the highlight here. Directly connected to Roppongi Station, it’s a perfect place to warm your heart on a cold winter night. Baccarat ETERNAL LIGHTS Ebisu Garden Place, Tokyo
November 8 – March 1 A giant Baccarat chandelier
— one of the largest in the world — shines above
this elegant illumination event. The crystal lights brighten up the streets
and give Ebisu a graceful, festive glow. Just a 5-minute walk from Ebisu Station,
and perfect for photos. DECKS Tokyo Beach “YAKEI” Odaiba, Tokyo
November 14 – February 27 Set by the ocean with the Rainbow Bridge in the background, this seaside illumination captures
Tokyo’s modern nightscape at its best. Only a 2-minute walk from Odaiba-Kaihin-Koen Station. Marunouchi Illumination 2025-2026 Marunouchi, Tokyo Station area
November 13 – February 15 Just steps from Tokyo Station, about 1.2 kilometers of trees along Marunouchi Naka-dori glow in warm champagne-gold lights. It’s a classy and cozy view that perfectly represents Tokyo’s winter nights, easy to stop by after sightseeing or even on your way home from work. YORUNOYO 2025 Yokohama, Kanagawa – Minato Mirai area December 4 – December 30 Set against the night view of Yokohama’s bay, this large-scale illumination event turns
the whole waterfront into a glowing art space. Lights and music move in perfect sync,
creating a breathtaking show across the city. The view from Red Brick Warehouse
and Osanbashi Pier is especially stunning. It’s easy to reach from Yokohama
or Sakuragicho Station. Yokohama Milight – City of Light Yokohama, Kanagawa –
from Yokohama Station East Exit to Minato Mirai November 6 – February 8 Stretching about 1.5 kilometers from Yokohama Station to Minato Mirai, this illumination lights up the trees,
bridges, and plazas along the way. It’s a perfect route for a relaxing evening stroll through Yokohama’s winter scenery. Next, let’s head west to Japan’s Kansai region. Here, modern cities and historic landmarks light up the winter nights with their own unique glow. Festival of the Lights in Osaka 2025 Osaka – Midosuji & Nakanoshima area
November 3 – December 31 The four-kilometer Midosuji Avenue turns into a glowing “Path of Light.” At Nakanoshima, the “Hikari Renaissance” show combines music and light in a spectacular display. Just a short trip from Umeda or Shinsaibashi, it’s one of Osaka’s most iconic winter events. Osaka Castle Illuminage 2025 Osaka – Nishinomaru Garden, Osaka Castle November 1 – February 1 A massive illumination event set against
the backdrop of Osaka Castle. Historic walls and colorful LED lights
create a magical nighttime view. With around three million bulbs lighting up Nishinomaru Garden, it’s perfect for evening sightseeing. About a 10-minute walk from Osakajokoen Station. Kobe Illuminage 2025 Hyogo – Kobe Fruit & Flower Park
October 24 – February 1 A classic Kobe winter event featuring
tunnels of light and a giant illuminated tree. You can also enjoy a Ferris wheel,
restaurants, and relaxing gardens on-site. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Kobe Station —
ideal for a family day trip. Now, let’s explore some of the
most beautiful illumination spots across Japan. Each one offers a breathtaking view
that makes winter travel even more special. Sapporo White Illumination Sapporo, Hokkaido – Odori Park & Ekimae Street Odori Park: November 21 – December 25
Ekimae Street: November 21 – February 11 Japan’s oldest illumination
event lights up the snowy city of Sapporo. The combination of pure white snow
and shimmering lights looks straight out of a fairy tale. Located right by Odori Station,
it’s a must-see winter classic in northern Japan. Sendai Pageant of Starlight Sendai, Miyagi – Jozenji-dori Avenue
December 5 – December 25 About 160 zelkova trees sparkle with 600,000 lights,
creating a magical winter tunnel. Don’t miss the “Starlight Wink,”
when the lights flash on all at once and the crowd cheers. It’s just a 15-minute walk from Sendai Station. Nabana no Sato Winter Illumination 2025 Mie – Nabana no Sato
October 18 – May 31 One of Japan’s largest and most spectacular illumination events. Each area follows a seasonal theme,
and the famous Tunnel of Light is absolutely breathtaking. About a 35-minute bus ride from Nagoya Station, perfect for a day trip. Hiroshima Dreamination 2025 Hiroshima – Peace Boulevard area
November 17 – January 3 This beloved winter tradition fills Peace Boulevard with colorful light displays. Many sections feature anime-
or story-themed designs, adding a fun, imaginative touch. Just steps from Kamiyacho-nishi Station — easy to enjoy while sightseeing. Hakata Station Illumination 2025 Fukuoka – JR Hakata Station
November 1 – January 12 Held alongside Kyushu’s largest Christmas market, this event lights up the plaza in front of Hakata Station with glowing trees and archways. Directly connected to the station, it’s one of the easiest and most festive winter spots in southern Japan. There are many more illumination events all across Japan.
