Police in Tokyo have arrested a man on suspicion of theft after a fatal accident involving a car stolen from a dealership.
A car hit pedestrians in Adachi Ward early Monday afternoon, leaving one person dead and another in critical condition. Nine others were injured.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department arrested the 37-year-old resident of Adachi for allegedly stealing the car from a dealership near the scene of the accident.
The car was reportedly a display vehicle without a license plate. The police plan to investigate how the car was stolen, and question the man on suspicion of hit-and-run.
