Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held separate meetings with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the sidelines of the 2025 G20 Summit in Johannesburg, where he is representing President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
Madbouly praised the 70-year relationship between Egypt and Japan, recalling the elevation of ties to a strategic partnership in 2023. He congratulated Takaichi on becoming Japan’s first female prime minister and highlighted long-standing cooperation in national projects, including the Grand Egyptian Museum and joint education initiatives.
He said Egypt is seeking expanded collaboration in advanced technology, artificial intelligence, economic governance and climate-related priorities. Madbouly also pointed to ongoing trilateral cooperation involving JICA, the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development and African partners, as well as joint work in peacekeeping and peace-building.
Takaichi welcomed continued coordination and said Japan aims to build on recent high-level exchanges to broaden cooperation across sectors.

In his meeting with Vietnam’s Pham Minh Chinh, Madbouly expressed Egypt’s interest in strengthening economic ties and commended Vietnam’s development experience. He highlighted the activity of Vietnamese companies in Egypt, including EUROPLAS in Sadat City, Song Hong’s partnership with Giza Spinning and Weaving to establish a clothing factory in Aswan, and VinGroup’s interest in electric-vehicle production.

Madbouly said both sides should develop a plan to expand cooperation, noting Egypt’s trade agreements and its position as a gateway to regional markets.
Pham Minh Chinh congratulated Egypt on the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and the upgrading of bilateral relations to a strategic partnership. He said Vietnam is studying a free-trade agreement with Egypt, and called for easing visas and facilitating the establishment of Vietnamese firms. He also proposed forming a joint high-level committee and strengthening private-sector links.
Madbouly welcomed the proposals, invited a Vietnamese business delegation to Cairo and said Egypt sees further opportunities in communications and IT, alongside expanded Vietnamese investment.
