TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police are hunting for a pair of thieves who broke into a parked vehicle in Chuo Ward last week and stole a backpack containing nearly 100 million yen, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Nov. 21).
At around 10:30 p.m. on November 20, a man called police from the Tsukiji area to report that he had returned to his parked car to find the window smashed and items stolen.
According to investigators, two men smashed a rear window of the vehicle and stole a backpack after the man had left it parked. The man explained that the backpack contained approximately 94 million yen in cash and other items.
The two men were wearing knit caps and sunglasses. After the incident, they fled in their own vehicle.
Police are seeking the whereabouts of the two thieves on suspicion of theft.
