HOKKAIDO (TR) – Video footage by TV Asahi shows investigators collecting footprints in the snow next to bloodstains in Sapporo City early on November 20.

Just before 10:30 p.m. the day before, a man in his teens or twenties was stabbed by another person as he was leaving a building.

The victim suffered injuries to the left side of his abdomen. The murder weapon is believed to be a bladed weapon, but it was not left at the scene.

“[The victim] was holding this area [his stomach],” a witness tells the network. “I saw him lying on the ground when the police arrived. He was curled up with his head turned toward the road.”

The man was conscious when he was taken to the hospital, police said.

A person who was in the company of the victim tells the network, “It was a fight between friends.”

Police are now searching for the perpetrator who is believed to have fled with the weapon.
