
The Little Tokyo Branch Library, 203 S. Los Angeles St. (at Second Street) in Little Tokyo, offers a variety of events.
Mondays at 3 p.m.: Words of Resilience, a group that offers a welcoming space for community members to come together and share their stories. Through creative expression, participants explore their lived experiences, build connections with one another, and find support in shared resilience. The group is designed to foster community, encourage self-expression, and highlight the strength that comes from listening and being heard.
Mondays at 4 p.m.: Urban Voices: Neighborhood Sing. Immerse yourself in a music workshop with participatory singing and wellness activities to improve mental health, amplify self-expression, and build community. Neighborhood Sing is a free, weekly drop-in community music workshop facilitated by local teaching artists to welcome vulnerable community members into a creative space of belonging. Through participatory singing and trauma-informed mindfulness activities, the program aims to improve mental health, amplify self-expression, and develop social and emotional learning while connecting participants to community resources, including healthcare and social service providers.
Fridays at 2 p.m.: Fast Friday Films. Chill out with a hot film during the weekly film series. Major stars, big action. Screening is subject to change or cancellation without notice.
First Saturdays at 11 a.m.: For babies, toddlers and kids. Join a fun and lively Japanese Storytime on the first and third Saturday of each month. Listen to exciting and entertaining stories, and sing some songs too.
Saturday, Nov. 22, from 4 to 5 p.m.: Don’t miss the annual Japan American Chamber Ensemble concert. This is an excellent chance to hear some of your favorite classical music conducted by famous conductor Ark Sano. This concert brings a delightful combination of East meets West that will thrill your soul with enchanting music.
Please come early, as seating for this event is always at a premium. Free parking in the STOA apartments for the first 28 patrons for 90 minutes with validation at the reference desk. Enter parking from Los Angeles Street, and the parking valet stand will be on your right as you enter and pull up into the STOA driveway. Be prepared to leave your keys with the attendant.
