Tory Lanez and his attorney, Crystal Morgan, have been fined $20,000 for an “obstruction of Plaintiff’s multiple attempts to depose him” in Megan Thee Stallion’s case against YouTube blogger Milagro Gramz, legal name Milagro Cooper. Lanez was held in contempt of court for failing to answer questions in the “Savage” singer’s defamation trial against Gramz. U.S. Magistrate Judge Lisette M. Reid warned Lanez that if he didn’t comply, he would be fined, reports Rolling Stone. He reportedly replied, “Whatever the fines are, I’ll pay them. I’m a millionaire. I don’t care.” The defamation trial between Megan and Cooper began on November 17 in Miami; Megan Thee Stallion, legal name Megan Pete, claimed that Cooper and Lanez coordinated a smear campaign against Pete during her trial against Lanez in 2022, with Cooper allegedly creating deep-fake porn of Pete and spreading lies that she was an “alcoholic” and required a guardian.
Lanez was sentenced to ten years in prison after being found guilty of all charges involved in shooting Pete in the foot in 2020; the shooting happened when the two were arguing after a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s house. He attempted to file a motion for a new trial after his verdict, but it was denied a month later. Since then, Lanez has expressed little remorse for what had happened, beyond just refusing to comply in the defamation case by maintaining his innocence. However, Pete claims that she has not known a day of “peace” since the shooting, and earlier this year, she filed a restraining order against Lanez and submitted a 31-page document that denied any new claims made by him.
